"All the staff we met were extremely friendly and helpful. The spa area was very convenient and well maintained. We ate in the Pantry several times and the food was delicious. A variety of cocktails and mocktails were also on offer. The garden area is beautiful and has lots of available lawn games. Overall, the hotel provides a wonderfully relaxing experience."
"Very unique property and lovely setting ... as a historical property, they have done a nice job of combining the comforts of modern amenities while keeping within their historical requirements. Service was slightly below average, with some well-trained staff and others going through the motions. We stayed in the Lodge and we experienced a few issues."
"The staff were friendly and the hotel is well kept. It is situated on a hill and offers a quiet place to relax after a busy day. It is close to the Kennet and Avon canal, Sydney Gardens and it’s a pleasant walk into city along Great Pulteney Street and over Pulteney Bridge. Unlike most city centre hotels it does have a car park. "
"It is a lovely hotel, very peaceful and quiet area. It could use a bit of redecoration in certain sites but it is clean enough and still very comfortable with all the amenities. Breakfast is superb (I would say above average for the chain hotels) and this is one of the very few hotels where you can actually open the windows! "Our luggage in the room was packed - while we were out someone entered our room and ransacked each of our suitcases. Nothing was taken but left us feeling unsafe to leave "
"Beautiful location. Staff helpful. Room and bathroom were clean. View from the room windows excellent. Easy to walk to the Roman Baths. Dining options nearby as well as at the property (if booked in advance)."

"Room large and well appointed, including a fridge. Comfortable King-size bed. Bathroom was a little small but clean We were staying for two nights and opted for drink vouchers in lieu of having room serviced. Didn't try the restaurant because we dined at a friends' place one night and our daughter had recommended some of the nearby restaurants which were very good. The staff at reception were very friendly, helpful and courteous."

It is a great place for a relaxing stay to detach from the daily stress; not so much if you really need a good wifi as this can be really sluggish, although maybe there is a way around it (I think they have some premium wifi service there but there will be likely an extra fee). "The staff were welcoming and helpful without intruding on our special night at this amazing hotel. It was our 30th Wedding Anniversary and far above what we could normally afford. So, made all worthwhile by staff, rooms and food."
