The vision for the Red Rocks Amphitheater began in the early 20th century when magazine publisher John Brisben Walker sought to create a stage that would welcome artists in the perfect acoustic surrounding of Red Rocks Park. A temporary stage was set up, and later, the City of Denver purchased the area from Walker with the plan to construct a permanent venue. Construction began in 1936, and the amphitheater was officially opened to the public 5 years later. Since then, the venue has hosted legendary performers including The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Carole King, and The Grateful Dead, and has also been a favorite location for live recordings. In 2018, get tickets to see artists such as Method Man, Modest Mouse, The Decemberists, Imagine Dragons, Jason Mraz, and Rascal Flatts.
