Jhene Aiko Efuru Chilombo was born in Ladera Heights, California. Her sister is Mila J, another successful R&B singer. She started off contributing vocals and touring with B2K, and was marketed as Lil Fizz’s cousin to gain an audience. After giving birth to her child, she returned to music with Sailing Souls, her first mixtape. This garnered the attention of Schoolboy Q and Ab-Soul, whom she works very closely with.
