Very nice older hotel. Since it is older you do have to walk up stairs to get to the reception. There is a lift from there to the rooms. Our room view was great and we could see the Scott Monument and Edinburgh Castle from our room.

This hotel is in the perfect location. The staff is also super friendly and helpful. The downsides of staying are that it’s quite noisy and night, the wifi is terrible and rarely works( I needed to work and struggled to log in most of the time), and there is no elevator to the lobby, requiring a long trudge up. Also, there is zero parking in case you are driving. The breakfast was good. The bar is fabulous and the location is unmatched, just across from the train station and the Royal Mile.

The hotel was in an excellent location. The room was clean and the staff was great! The only downside was the tub/shower was a huge step in.

Lovely hotel within walking distance of many Edinburgh destinations. Our room was lovely with two large window looking out on Princes Street. The daily breakfast was wonderful and the staff was very attentive.

The hotel was within easy walking distance to old town as well as transport to and from the airport. The alley behind the hotel was noisy, beginning at 5am. The staff were friendly. The bed was comfortable but with only 2 small windows the room was dark. We would stay at the Waverly again but would request a front facing room.

Carpeted floors were kinda gross, there was no phone in the room to contact reception or order room service, they gave me the wrong luggage when I went to pick it up from storage (they didn't check the tag number). Aside from that, it was a reasonably priced and reasonably comfortable stay. It is exactly worth its 3-star-rating.

We understand that the stairs leading to the reception are not ideal - especially for elderly guests and those with mobility issues or heavy luggage. As is stated on our website and all of our booking partners’, the Old Waverley Hotel is a listed building, meaning it is of 'special' architectural or historic interest, which enriches Scotland's landscape. Sadly, this means we cannot have a lift from the ground floor, due to the age and characteristics of the building, but we do offer a concierge service. This was an absolutely fabulous period hotel, well updated, phenomenal staff, adequate dinner options at the in house restaurant/bar. The elevator is small, but efficient. The staff was gracious about helping carrying baggage up stairs to the check in. The location can NOT be beat for access to the city and all of its views, train and bus transit etc.

The Old Waverley is very conveniently located on Princes Street. Although slightly outdated on the inside, the hotel is extremely clean, with spacious rooms for the price. The staff were courteous and provided the necessary support.

Close to the station, reception was fine but asked for a £25 deposit, not sure why. Room as expected for a 3* was generally good but noisy with traffic and street noise at times. Fantastic hotel
Beautiful hotel, right opposite the Scott Monument and Princes Gardens, perfect location to start exploring the city, by foot train, tram or bus. Bed super comfy and room spotlessly clean, breakfast available in room and in restaurant, all staff from reception, restaurant and domestic were friendly and welcoming . Only downside was noise from bus/tram and people ..being on main road we expected there to be some noise but not as much as there was (bring earplugs ) Wifi is a bit hit and miss .Would definately stay again.

The hotel is perfectly located for a first time visitor to the city. Many attractions are within a short walk as well as a massive selection of restaurants. The staff were very helpful and we were able to check in early as our rooms were ready. Breakfast was great with a fantastic view from the room. We had a great time in Edinburgh and the hotel was a big part of the fantastic experience.

It’s a bit old and tired but the room was clean and comfy. Floors are creaky and stairs unavoidable. Great big bed, so-so wifi. Very handy to trains, trams and buses, and an easy walk to Royal Mile and the Castle.

Concert Trip
Excellent central location for visiting Edinburgh. Within walking distance of the Train and bus stations and Edinburgh Castle. Rooms are comfortable and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast sets you up for the day We used this hotel for a concert at the Usher Hall and it was perfect. We have no complaints and would stay here again.

Wee get away
Nice comfortable hotel for on overnight stay. Room was very small and bathroom was tiny but still done the job. Handy for restaurants, bars and railway station.

They cheerfully kept my bag in storage during the day when I arrived. Delightful, attractive older building. Good-sized room with everything needed.

Hotel was central for what we wanted, staff was friendly and helpful, room was large and comfortable, only problem we had was wi fi connection was not up standard.
