What you can expect

Step into the oldest beer cellar in Bad Ischl. Marvel at the stone pillars of this hand-carved sandstone cellar, which was used as a cold store for the locals. Learn about the geology and history of this 500-year-old natural cellar and witness traces of the ice age.
Hear how the cellar was once owned by the Ischler brewery, and how the building above it, known as Cafe Casino, was acquired by the Schmalnaeur family in 1971. The building dates back to the 1600s.
Walk on a audioguided tour of the cellar and admire the unique geological features of this cold store, which used to be connected to the cellars in the surrounding area. Finish your tour and then visit the in-house brewery.
