Scott and Seth Avett grew up playing music in the household. After playing in a band together in highschool, the brothers were joined by stand-up bassist Bob Crawford. The trio released the Avett Brothers’ first album, Country Was. They partnered with Ramseur Records for A Carolina Jubilee, which showcased the band’s genre-crossing music. The Avett Brothers’ Emotionalism topped the Billboard Top Heatseekers Chart at debut. They went on to perform a single from the album on Late Night with Conan O’Brien. The Avett Brothers have done work with Rick Rubin, who produced The Carpenter, I and Love and You, Magpie and the Dandelion, and True Sadness. Since their appearance on Late Night with Conan O’Brien in 2007, the Avett Brothers have appeared on almost every major late night TV show, and their music and lyrics are featured in many other cultural works. Along with Mumford & Sons and The Lumineers, the Avett Brothers are credited with constructing and pioneers the folk rock revival of the mid-2000’s.
