San Lucas Bay is made up of several beaches draped around intriguing rock formations. It covers the southernmost part of the calm Gulf of California, where the sea meets the more tumultuous waves of the Pacific Ocean. Spend your vacation traversing the golden strands enclosing the bay.
At the southern end of the town lie the unlikely pairings of Lovers Beach and Divorce Beach. Admire the dramatic coastline of the latter, whose Pacific Ocean waves rock the beach. Relax on its northern counterpart, Lovers Beach, where the sea is calm and ideal for swimming. Bring snorkeling gear and check out the diverse fish here.
Marking the eastern end of this beach coupling is the iconic Arch of Cabo San Lucas. Snap photos of the rocky arch, whose sandy surface disappears at high tide. Embark on one of the many boat tours and whale-watching trips available from the town center and pass close to the arch. Enjoy the views of Mt. Solmar and check yourself into a spa near the beach for relaxing treatments.
Head north along the coast to reach Playa Empacadora. It borders the southern side of the marina, giving you excellent views of the boats passing through. On adjacent Cannery Beach, see one of the region’s oldest commercial enterprises, a whitewashed edifice today covered in graffiti. Read a book beneath a straw umbrella and enjoy a picnic with the relaxing sound of the waves.
Go to the northern side of the harbor for Medano Beach, which is popular with young partygoers. Savor cocktails in the bars, try the seafood in the beachside restaurants and rent watersports equipment.
San Lucas Bay includes the coastal area in and around the marina of Cabo San Lucas. Walk east for about 10 minutes from Plaza Amelia Wilkes to reach the beaches. Head north along the coastal corridor linking the town to San José del Cabo and stop off at Playa el Chileno on the way.
