Seasonal Road Closure Notice: HWY 120 (Tioga Pass) generally closes for the winter from late October through late June. Daily closures can also occur during periods of inclement weather in spring and fall. The Eastern entrance to Yosemite National Park is located 45 minutes from Mammoth Lakes. Yosemite's Eastern Gate or Tuolumne Meadows is not accessible when Tioga Pass is closed. All other Yosemite National Park entrances are open year round. What a great place to stay! We had a spacious room, a comfy bed, and access to the Village and lots of dining options. The best part of all was the Mammoth Gran Fondo start line was across the street. Easy to start and close after the finish.

We enjoyed the character of this hotel, which stands out in a town full of sludge green modern buildings. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Mammoth is very expensive in general so this is a good budget option. Rooms are small but plenty of hooks to hang coats, good shower. Quiet, small fridge was a bonus. The Clocktower Cellar Bar was fantastic, popular with the locals, great range of beer, and fab pub food.

Room and bathroom are clean. I like the many shelves to store and organize my stuff. It would be nice to have a bigger bath soap and thicker bathroom tissue. It’s too thin that when you get it wet as if it dissolves. This is an older hotel so don’t expect a card key. The room keys are the old school keys - the real keys. I don’t mind.

Room was tidied everyday with garbage removal and new towels. Front desk was helpful and courteous. Parking was easy. Very convenient to village shops, restaurants and Canyon Gondola. Can get a bit noisy from restaurant downstairs, but really did not disrupt stay at all. Would stay again.

I love the alpanhof! It’s my favorite place to stay in mammoth! I love that it is still family owned and the place feels very cozy and the staff is very nice and the alpanhof still has that old School mammoth vibe that I love.

Property was acceptable. Staff was appropriately polite but not overly so- no better than average. Room was clean, but could use a vacuum. Outdoor spa had hot water but there was an “Out of Order” label on the timer for the jets. Other guests didn’t mind being noisy, but maybe that’s a Mammoth in the Summer thing. This property is across the street from The Village, which has a small general store, lots of dining options, some shops and a few bus stops. More dining, liquor and shop options are with easy walking distance.

Ok, but close to the Village

Stay was ok. The dude that checked us in was by far the rudest clerk i have ever encountered. The property is quite old, and the walls are very thin, so be prepared to wake up early with everyone around you. The property is old, but clean. The best part about it is proximity to the village.
