From the beautiful cactus gardens and many palm trees to the tasteful pool area furnishings, the overall impression is of quiet, relaxing luxury. The rooms are also furnished with a very comfortable bed, very nice bath amenities, and tasteful art photography. The free breakfast and lunch are a standout feature which enabled us to stay on-property and feel more like we had “moved in” for the duration of our stay. The service from the staff is unfailingly friendly and accommodating. All that is missing is a bar to serve wine or cocktails to enjoy poolside. We would have also liked to have been able to view newscasts (CNN, etc.), which are not available on the television system in the rooms. We recommend the Santiago without reservation and recommend it highly. If you don’t choose the right room, it can be a bit noisy in the evening hours. Staff was very attentive and accommodating. Checkout is at 11am, but during my recent visit, while laying at pool, they came in and serviced my room for next guest before I even checked out. They never changed my sheets and makes me wonder now if my sheets were clean.
