This is certainly a five star hotel. The location is beautiful with spectacular views of the mountains. The sound of an adjacent creek was very calming. The staff was courteous and helpful. The food at the restaurant and guest lounge was delicious. Definitely I will be returning as soon as I can.

Amazing property with gorgeous views. Rooms were spacious and very clean. Outdoor spa was used daily. Room amenities were great - shampoos, lotions, face mists, bamboo hairbrush, drinks etc. Had a chance to visit the spa and highlight recommend for a relaxing massage. Restaurant was above expectations and chef made it a memorable experience for us. We will be visiting again.

I had an amazing stay at this hotel in Hakone. The room was spacious, and I particularly loved having a private onsen. The atmosphere perfectly captured the charm of a traditional Japanese ryokan, making the stay feel really special. Breakfast was also beautifully presented and a great way to start the day. I would happily stay here again. My only recommendation for future guests would be to book dinner in advance. We were unable to dine at the hotel in the evening and struggled to find restaurants nearby with availability. Other than that, it was a fantastic stay.

Wonderful hotel! Probably the best at Hakone all they gave four stars for amenities because we would’ve liked to have a gym in the hotel. Otherwise we couldn’t have picked a better place.

Hakone Gora Karaku was absolutely incredible! One of our favourite stays in Japan. The kaiseki dinner and breakfast were exceptional, the service was so nice, the room was stunning, and the onsen baths were such a relaxing treat. The staff were incredibly kind and hospitable, making the whole experience feel extra special for our family. The location is perfect, right near the train station and the Hakone loop, making everything so easy. A truly unforgettable stay we loved every moment.

It was a wondeful stay. while it is expensive, it is worth it for the level of facilities and staff. The breakfast is very traditional japanese but it is part of the full experience. People should embrace and try it because we had both the western and the japanese breakfast and both were very well prepared with fresh ingredients and great flavor. The staff tries to do a good job.

Perfect relaxing stay. Staff were exceptionally kind and accommodating. Naia at Mitsuki was very knowledgeable and made each meal a wonderful experience. The clothing and environment was immaculate but welcoming. We would definitely come back.

This is a beautiful luxury hotel with very attention staff. The food is amazing. We had the teppanyaki dinner and the kaiseki Japanese breakfast which was the perfect combination. The teppanyaki dinner is considered "western," while the other choice is the Japanese kaiseki style which one should try at least once while in Japan. The food is art and is breathtaking in beauty. The onsens were beautiful. We tried the public one and both private ones (the rock and the cypress). The cypress one is particularly lovely. The guest lounge that serves drinks and hors d'oeuvres, including very high end Japanese whiskey, is the best that I've seen at any hotel. It doesn't replace a meal but are very good refreshments that rival anything at a 4-5 star hotel. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the Gora train station. It provides a shuttle to the Odawara train station where you can catch the shinkansen. Note that the price of the room will depend on the number of guests in the room because the main charge is for the very upscale meals that come with the rooms. The price can vary substantially depending on the day of the week and season as well. Note that Asian hotels are not like American hotels in which the number of guests is allowed to be flexible. It's very important that the number of guests is reported accurately for Asian hotels. This is a perfect place to feel nourished and refreshed.

From the moment we arrived, this luxury hotel exceeded every expectation. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking — surrounded by peaceful nature and stunning views that instantly made us feel relaxed and refreshed. Our room featured a private onsen, which was one of the highlights of the stay. Soaking in the warm water while enjoying the quiet atmosphere was truly unforgettable. The dining experience was exceptional. The Michelin-starred dinner was beautifully presented and every dish was crafted with incredible attention to detail and flavor. Breakfast was equally impressive, with a wonderful selection of fresh and high-quality ingredients. What made this stay even more special was the tranquility of the hotel. It was so quiet and peaceful that I had one of the best sleeps I’ve had in a very long time. The entire experience felt deeply relaxing and rejuvenating. The staff were extremely polite, respectful, and attentive throughout our stay. Their hospitality made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for at every moment. Overall, it was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for luxury, relaxation, exceptional food, and unforgettable hospitality. We cannot wait to return.

Beautiful resort with great hospitality and amenities. The only critique I have is that, especially for this price, I feel like all guests who request the shuttle service to/from the train station should be offered it. It was very difficult for my husband, baby and I to get to the hotel without it (especially because no taxis/ubers were available) and when we wanted to go to use the shuttle on the way back to the train station, they said it was fully booked. They ended up eventually being able to accommodate us, for which we were incredibly grateful, but there was a lot of extra stress and pleading with the front desk to be able to get that confirmation. This was the only tarnish on an otherwise wonderful, relaxing stay.
