Stay was good, mattresses where a little old and uncomfortable. Staff was rude at check out. Left a day early, was very adamant about not getting any money back ( didn't ask for it ). Park is great had a very good time.

We're glad we got to stay in Big Bend. It was a great location near the visitor center and the store with multiple trails next to it. Beautiful night sky and we got to eat our dinner overlooking the hiking trails and seeing the sunset and starry sky. The room was outdated and the toilet looked a little scary and the beds were dipping in the center. Our room also didn't have any body wash in the dispenser but luckily we brought our own. The room has a microwave, coffee maker, and fridge so that was nice. The lodge was closed and under construction so there's only a stinky food truck you can get food from. We just bought cup noodles and sandwiches and fruit from the store for our dinner.

Location is good, Window trail is right there. Just two bad things happen and I lost $700 (approx ) because of that. 1. Person at Lodge check-in counter told me that I can put my car on charge anywhere, even discussed about cable length, and that I should try on payment, if cable is short then on grass. I got ticket of $330 because of this as they don't own land, land belongs to national forest. I wish he clearly told me things. 2. I got a delivery showing as delivered, which I need, but they said its not delivered,

No wi-fi and no tv were two of the main perks. The dark skies and end of the road location were the main attraction. The nearby hiking trails and endless beauty were the surprise. The desert had just had rain so it was blooming everywhere (luck, not good timing) which added to the awe. The room was dated but clean and neat. Only disappointment was that the restaurant was being remodeled so the option was a food truck. AS someone who has lived nearly 40 years in Texas, I was surprised and delighted that it looks just like my dad's old westerns that always showed the Indians ride down from the mountains, etc. Take food in an ice chest (rooms have a mini fridge and microwave. Take bottles of water and other beverages (they have a convenience store with a fair selection but a little pricey). Take the time to make the scenic drives to the canyons and the border areas. Make yourself hike the mile up for the view at surnise (good trails easy to follow and I have had a knee replacement last year). Oh, and one last thing; don't forget to breathe.

This was our 6th visit to Big Bend, and the only complaint we have is that the food truck only stayed open until 3, and the Basin store was poorly stocked. This is the first time this has happened. If the restaurant isn’t going to be open, then at least keep the food truck late enough for dinner.

Beautiful, rustic setting with excellent access to the trailheads right outside your doorstep. The only adjustment was the fact that the WiFi was only accessible near the commissary, which, interestingly... is kind of the point. That is to say, "to properly disconnect." One final note, the room had a musky aroma... so be sure to bring a candle or other things to mask the scent. Other than that, all good. I will return later this year and stay at The Lodge... so that should explain everything.

This is a no frills hotel. No TV. Nothing fancy. But it is clean and has a beautiful view! Especially if you get the second floor, the view from the back porch is gorgeous. Its probably still really pretty from the first floor too. There were multiple steps to go down from the parking lot to get to the building, then more steps to get to the second floor. I'm not sure if they had a wheel chair accessible entrance. I did not see one myself. Maybe one of the other buildings had one. The window view trail is literally right outside the room so that was really cool to go on at sunset. Check in is at the store. That was hard to figure out. I wish they would have said that in the listing. They did have a little coffee pot with coffee pods to use. It is not a K-cup compatible coffee maker. It also has a small mini fridge and freezer and microwave.

The beauty of the area this lodge sits on overcomes all the things it lacks. I would stay there again JUST based on the location alone. The rooms are clean and comfortable but need updating. There is NO food except for a food truck with limited hours. Closest restaurant is 30 miles away. Lodge store is well stocked with snacks and microwave food. Each room has a microwave and fridge. The area around the Lodge is very run down and several buildings are in disrepair. The young staff is very friendly and the park rangers are very knowledgeable and helpful. There is one staff member that is exceedingly unpleasant. Her attitude with guests and employees is condescending and rude. I have never seen any employee at any park, State or National, treat people as she does. I hope she was just having a bad weekend while we were there but based on other reviews I read, I believe that's just her personality. I hope Aramark, who runs the park, looks at reviews and takes action but by the looks of how they are allowing this beautiful lodge deteriorate, I have no faith that they will deal with the issue appropriately. If you are a single woman, please know there are no chains or appropriate locks on the door and the room keys fit multiple doors. Despite all of the above, as I said from the beginning of this review, the location of this lodge makes it worth the stay. It is breath taking and very convenient for hiking the Chisos and viewing Big Bend.

No wifi, no housekeeping, no restaurant open, dated rooms. Beds were double not queen size and not comfortable. Microwave works 50%. Main rug dirty. Renovations are years behind. Hiking was awesome, other guests were friendly.

Room was clean and spacious. Check-in was at park store - lodge was closed. Got the message that checkin was between 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm. Seemed like a limited period of time. Restaurant was also closed. We had to get breakfast and lunch from a food truck.
