This property is very special and the staff ensure you have a very relaxed vacation. The location is exceptional on the beach in Montauk NY which is the end of Long Island. Do not miss the spa especially the bathhouse plunges. But also go visit the little towns and the excellent restaurants.
It’s Montauk, you go here for the beach, but if you also like to dip in a pool, it’s inconvenient, plan on walking an entire trail through a parking lot to get to it. I had a prime spot for a room, choose wisely, if it’s not beachfront, you’ll also walk. It’s Gurney’s, known for its spa, it’s truly the best part of the resort, beautiful and services are fine. The staff is very nice here but SLOW. I wouldn’t say in this case you get what you pay for, if you’re looking for a Montauk vacation you’re paying for the name if you’re going for the spa you’re also paying for the spa and personally, it’s not a family vacation spot, no activities. It’s definitely a tourist spot. Dog friendly, plan to hear dogs barking.
I had my dogs with me and they loved the beach. I loved the friendly and dog friendly staff and people. I had breakfast room serviced and it was top grade food.
Absolutely beautiful property- laid back but classically tasteful. Staff was wonderful…Mimmeo & Sebastian are fabulous & friendly & Ivette in the spa gave a top notch massage. Gigi’s never disappointed! I will absolutely be back.
Beautiful view and accomodations. Enjoyed the bathhouse and hotel amenities

If you’re reading negative reviews- they are true. If you’re reading positive reviews - they are also true. If this place was 200$ per night I would Rate it higher.
Relative to its price point, it is simply not worth it.
The lay out is not good, the rooms are not modern and they are understaffed. The bathroom is tiny; the floors had sand.
The staff is nice but not efficient and unable to meet your needs the way a 5 star check in process would be. Everyone seems removed.
The beach is nice when sunny, the indoor gym and spa are nice. The beach service for food/ drinks is extremely slow. Montauk is a cute beach town, great concept in theory but I do think this place will soon lose business to lower priced hotels that have better service.
Great location, excellent facilities. Staff very mixed - some incredible and some terrible.
Cumulative number of issues but dealt with by a member of the management team after getting fed up of a number of things, Including:
Dog mess left for > 24 hours after reporting it. Staff member laughed and clearly did nothing after reporting it. Not our dog.
Had to call 4 times to get our daughters bed made up in the room. Despite being on the booking months in advance.
Asked for an ice cream for our daughter and told i was lying when i said they’d done it for her the two proceeding days and they couldnt get her one.
Not the kind of treatment or experience from a resort of this quality.
EVERYTHING about our stay at Gurneys was wonderful. The staff was outstanding and so accommodating. The room was beautiful looking out at the ocean. We have decided to make a family tradition to go to stay.
There were no iron in my room just the ironing board. Also called the front desk around 1am to get a ride back to our room from main property but there was no answer so my partner and I had to walk back to our room. Otherwise the stay was great. Loved the bath house. Also loved the versatility of the property restaurant. Room were nice and spacious with a breathtaking view.
The food was delicious. There was an issue with the pool which will be fixed soon.
My big complaint was room location. I am a senior citizen and my room was in the 700's. Many steep stairs to get down to main building. They offered a ride from my room to main building which I had to use because it was just too far to walk in the dark alone. Walking up to my room was not an option. This may be find for a young family but not for me.
