Loved staying here. The staff were very helpful and took the time to answer all my questions. The grounds are well maintained and hotel was clean. Location was excellent. Would highly recommend.
The property is undergoing renovations, so parking was complicated. We had a very nice and comfy room. We enjoyed drinks and dinner in the Cascades Restaurant. Unfortunately it was a quick visit so we didn’t get to explore the property more.
Never pass up an opportunity to stay at this property and experience all the amenities they offer!!! From coffee shop to tours to restaurants, all was worth it!! Staff were top notch also!!

A lot of building work going on. Hotel run more like a theme park. Decor a bit tired and could do with a deep clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Server in the Post was excellent and food great.

The hotel is old. It’s clean but just old. If you expect something modern, this isn’t the one. We liked the location, it’s easy to get to Rocky Mountains. The restaurants in the hotels are pricing. It’s probably better to go to the town for dinner.

Nice clean room. Cold shower and no water pressure. A fridge would be nice.
Oh The Stanley!!! Even with construction going on all around the hotel it was beautiful as always! Our room, The Cascades Suite, at the other end of the hall of 217!!, was clean and updated, bathroom was gorgeous! Staff was great. Breakfast at the Cascades was delish. The maze could use some work but hoping with the Blumehouse Museum coming they will do it justice! Love The Stanley ❤️
I liked the location close to downtown and the restaurants on property. The Stanley is a unique historic building with a lot of character. I didn’t like the crowds of people on tours taking up parking and front porch lobby seating. The staff couldn’t keep up with them. The front porch was a mess with empty glassware everywhere and a wedding party smoking marijuana. For the price I expected more. We stayed 3 nights but one night would have been enough.
We stayed here one night because my wife is a big fan of the movie “the shining”. When we checked in they wanted to put us in the lodge. Which defeated the whole purpose of staying. Finally they were able to get us a room in the main building for an additional $65. We paid it because it was important to my wife. The hotel was OK. Nothing special. But it was OK. It was clean. Unless you are a fan of Stephen King and just have to stay here, there are cheaper options.
This is a beautiful historic property and the landscaping that isn’t under construction is lovely. We stayed last year and they were working on the parking lot and they still are working on it this year, along with a lot of other construction. We stayed at The Lodge, last year we were at the Stanley. The rooms are pretty basic and small, just a bed, desk with chair and bathroom. And they don’t have things less expensive hotels do: no refrigerator, microwave, face cloths, breakfast etc. It was hard to find any staff, at the Lodge, there is no front desk. We did have great service from Andrew at the Aspire property though. And the spa, hot tub etc at the Aspire are amazing! So, if you go, go for the history and the beautiful setting, and not the typical hotel amenities.

We had good views but there is a lot of construction happening. Food was good…biggest issue was they never cleaned the room after multiple requests.. it was gross to see used towels in the tiny bathroom… also water was not free flowing in the sink.
The hotel was clean and the staff was great. The view is amazing!
There's a lot of construction going on, but our stay was terrific.

I would rate the hotel 4+ stars if it were not for the major construction, everywhere around the property. A beautiful hotel, once the additions are completed then I expect The Stanley to be an amazing stay. Just don't book a stay until the work is completed. To my understanding it will be sometime in 2028. My review is not a knock on the staff and management. My experience with them was positive.

parking staff were most helpful, the two interactions i had with the check in staff were also great. the stairs leading to second or i guess main floor of the hotel definitely need replaced- the tiles were falling apart. the bathrooms in the main hotel building on the lower floor were pretty dirty & a lot of the glass or plexiglass for the displays on history or decoration were looking rough making some of the history articles/ notes hard to read and harder to see so the visual impact felt like it was lacking due to that. the aspire building was well maintained and clean (other than a few random gnats)
hoping next time i make the drive up to estes park construction will be near done & that kore areas in the main original stanley hotel will be open to public- having 3/4 of the rooms made for a slightly disappointing experience considering how much it costs to stay there.
regardless, i took my mom here after talking about it for the last 10 years & we still had such a great time!

The pool was at a different location for an additional fee per person. That was no where on the website. The room was mid for the price. The Stanley is a one and done. The bathroom was bigger than our room. No where to sit in the room to relax at the end of the day. I dont think we will ever stay again.
The Stanley’s such a great place to stay. The rooms are clean and so beautiful. The Hedge maze is fun and there are so many other properties to enjoy on site. The tours are great also.
The staff were very courteous and even apologized for the large crowd that got a little loud at the bar while eating dinner. The hotel was clean and we had ample supply of fresh towels and toiletries in our room.
My only complaint was that the parking situation was not ideal and loads of construction around the hotel that did not allow us to access and enjoy all the amenities they had to offer. The rose garden was half blocked off; we did not even get to view the pool area. In addition, there were cranes obstructing our mountain view from our room and we were awakened by construction noise in the morning during our stay.
Also, when booking through Expedia, I was under the impression I booked a room in the hotel but later discovered that Expedia booked our room in the lodge. I thought that this was a little deceiving considering the room I booked stated Stanley Hotel and then details revealed Lodge.

Truthfully, I had high hopes for this stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful as things can be quite confusing ad there are 9 different buildings. Construction was going on outside so the entire stay was very nosy, but was to be expected. The additional parking lot will be nice when finished. Our room was small and simple, clean and had a comfy bed.
We went on the Shining Tour and the ghost tour...I would save your money on both. I've attended several haunted hotel tours elsewhere, and this one fell flat.
The outside of the hotel was beautiful, but as far as the rest of the hotel? It was dirty. Trash, dust, we stayed in the Lodge, I don't feel like the floors of the hallways had been vaccuumed or anything had been dusted in years. Dirty windows, paint on the windows, if meant to look old, I get it, but it can still be clean.
In the main hotel, things inside the ice box displaywere, you guessed it, dirty. The only place I found to be extremely clean was the Caretaker's Cottage.
We are glad we went and stayed, but would not stay there again.
