When people around the world picture Las Vegas, the image is as clear as it is universal. The bright bulbs adorning major casinos are what naturally comes to mind. Still, despite its fame, the main tourist hub of Las Vegas is not the only place worth visiting in the city. There is more than one neighborhood to see after you’ve taken a tour of S. Las Vegas Boulevard.
The Strip — Yes, The Strip is by far the most popular neighborhood in Las Vegas. It’s known for its larger-than-life casinos and around-the-clock entertainment. Lavish swimming pools, wave pools, lazy rivers, and other impressive amenities also make their home at the accommodations here.
North Las Vegas — If an off-the-beaten path experience is what you seek, head to North Las Vegas where you can hit up the motor speedway and restaurants with a bit of a slower pace.
Downtown Las Vegas — This is where the cool kids used to hang out before The Strip popped up, and to this day you can find plenty of nightlife, shows, and other Las Vegas activities in this part of town. Fremont Street is the largest draw, featuring The Fremont Street Experience, an entertainment complex.
Things to See in Las Vegas
Believe it or not, there are plenty of things to see in Vegas that don’t involve walking until your shoe treads are slim or elbowing your way across a casino floor. For starters, you can watch the fountains in front of the Bellagio® dance to music. Or, head to the top of the Stratosphere to stand on the tallest freestanding observation tower in the country. Shows in Las Vegas include world-renowned musical acts and elaborate Cirque du Soleil™ performances—just grab your tickets in advance, as shows often sell out.

From the nightly Viva Vision light show on Fremont Street to peaceful gondola rides at The Venetian® on S. Las Vegas Boulevard, fun things to do in Las Vegas span the gamut of activities and adventures for all types of travelers. Even if you don’t live for the nightlife, The Strip has lots of attractions for the whole family. Instead of drinking by the pool, spend an air-conditioned day shopping in The Forum Shops at Caesars® or visiting the Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay. Of course, if you are a night owl, there is no shortage of nightclubs to keep you busy until dawn. Many Las Vegas tours let you explore not only city attractions, but also regional highlights, such as the Hoover Dam.
