Amazing staff! Lots of things to do, free lockers for luggage storage when you check out which I appreciated. I had a private room and it was nicer than some hotel rooms I had seen!

A great hostel
Stayed here on a solo trip in late September, it was a great experience. The staff are very kind, it's easy to meet people, but also have some quiet time when needed. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I would stay again and recommend it to others.

A beautiful hostel that makes you feel at home - like in a big house. Other hostels often feel like a dormitory. We had a lovely warm welcome and were impressed with the hostel layout. The bunk-beds very comfy! Of-course there is always room for improvement and modernisation but all-in-all a great place, great location and we’d definitely book again when visiting Vienna!

5 star hostel
Perfect if you are travelling alone! Nice bar where all people hang out and you can easily find other travellers to go out and do things with. What makes this place different is the management. They really care about the place and the guests and all the employees those to! So if you're looking for a clean, fun, friendly and all around great place you found it!

Best hostel I've stayed in so far
I would highly recommend staying here! I had a long day but when I checked in here my mood completely changed for the better. The staff and volunteers are so kind, genuine, and helpful. The atmosphere of the hostel is really friendly and comforting (and the decor is beautiful). This was my first Christmas away from my family and I'm so glad I spent it here because it's such a happy environment. I met some really funny people so it almost felt like a second home :) Thank you to all of the volunteers and staff for the delicious food, excellent service, and a lovely stay (and for the Christmas gift ;) ) if I come back to the city, I will definitely be staying here

Close to train station, quiet/courteous environment, and safe. This was my first hostel experience and although I can't complain, I wouldn't do it again. People snore, keep odd hours and turn on lights after you've gone to bed. The eye shield to sleep and ear plugs saved the day for me. If all you need is a place to crash, by all means, this hostel is a good one! The wall plugs outside in the hallway were put to use with my flat iron. .I never had to wait to use the bathroom or shower and they were kept clean. The common areas were clean and had multiple outlets to plug in your phone, etc. Computer area was a nice touch. It gave me something to do on my free time. All in all, this was a good experience but too European for me :)

There are a lot of great things about staying in the dorms - but snorers and loud people are definitely NOT one of them - f you ever again find yourself in a room full of noisy people, do come see us at reception - we're always happy to give out free earplugs to those in need or find another solution. We are happy to hear that you liked our common areas - we put a lot of effort in creating a comfy atmosphere for our guests. Hope you don't give up on staying in european hostels after all! Safe travels!

Great family atmosphere Hostel!
Hostel has a great friendly vibe, with a family feel. Activities, including pay-what-you-wish dinner every night, and in-hostel bar. In a decent location, walking distance to public transport and shopping.

Misleading hotels booking not 4bed, really 10bed
Dueling snorers and drunks kept me awake most nights of my stay. Social hostel with activities and a bar. Has washing machine and dryer without hassling anyone. Two fridges and kitchen. Paid for a 4bunk but got a 6bunk with an additional room that had 4bed(where ppl were going in and out of). So really it was 10 bunk room sharing a shower and toilet.

About your room, you are right, there are a few rooms on the same category - we will try to adjust this - but next time please inform the receptionist and we figure out a solution together - our reception is staffed 24 hours a day. Futher I'm so sorry to hear that you had a not-so-great dormitory experience. Staying in the dorms is a wonderful part of hosteling - it provides a great opportunity to meet people from all over the world - but every now and then, a disrespectful guest or group of guests can really mess things up. If you ever have roommate problems again also if someone is snoring (that can make anyone's dorm-stay a bit of a nightmare), please let reception know - we're very good at politely letting people know that they're behavior needs to improve :). Hope to see you around again. Untill then happy travelling!

Best Hostel in Vienna
This is the best hostel I have had the pleasure to stay. They have great common areas, garden/patio areas it’s really nice. I booked one night and then stayed 2 more. There are some great traditional Austrian restaurants nearby 2 really close. Then there is an Australian themed bar called Travel Shack. The hostel does dinners pay what you can a few nights. This place makes it easy to make friends.

You hit on a few of the things we really love about our hostel - the gardens & common room provide plenty of space to kick back&relax, while the guest kitchen, the bar (happy hour!) and a generally social atmosphere provide ample opportunities for meeting up with folks to explore Vienna with - by day or by night :). Lovely hostel with friendly staff!
My friend and I stayed at the Ruthensteiner Hostel for one night while interrailing through Europe. We had booked an en-suite room and even got our own studio apartment! The staff working at the hostel was friendly and welcoming, and the hostel had a nice feeling. They had a little bar that was open in the evenings and offered a breakfast buffet for a few euros. We will definitely stay at the Ruthensteiner again if we go back to Vienna!

My friend and I stayed here for four nights. We really enjoyed our time, but beware that it gets very hot during the summer time and they don’t have air conditioning. The beds aren’t super comfortable but the room was very clean. Laundry is on the expensive side as it cost 6 euros total. The location of the hostel was perfect though as it is close to restaurants and transportation.

Fantastic place in Vienna with a great staff and really fun, laid-back atmosphere. The reception area has a lot of pre-prepared ideas and directions/suggestions for visitors; so many details like that are thought out. Spent three nights here; it was easy to get to any place in Vienna via public transit. Would love to come back!

Good but charged a second time
Unfortunately, although I enjoyed my stay, I found when I got home that I had been charged for the stay despite already paying for my stay with Tesco Clubcard points before arriving! This completely changes the experience for me. It’s unacceptable. In terms of the actual stay, the staff were friendly and nice and spoke good English. There was a bar but it was more of a relaxed atmosphere than a party one. I managed to make some friends from Mexico, Portugal and the USA and discussed politics till 2am which I thoroughly enjoyed. As long as you watch whether you get double charged, then the hostel is a good stay.
