Well located, close to subway and central park. This place has missed the "hostel spirit". Gloomy common room. Filthy bedrooms, dirty bathrooms : soils and walls are greasy and sticky. No towels provided. Waterbottles 2 dollar for 500ml, and 5 dollar to keep a bag after checkout. This is a shame !!! Very noisy outdoors, no window isolation. I will come back to NY, but not in this place.

it was my first time in hostel. traveling with my wife only meant I needed to have private bathroom as she will not share. unfortunately my wife is an executive in housekeeping and bells and whistles went off making my stay with her not easy.

We booked a private room and two people entered our room in the middle of the night, the front desk assigned them our room while we were there. This happened twice during the night, then at 1AM, someone from the front desk woke us up to ask us whether we had a reservation. This experience was the worst I’ve ever had, not to mention that I was freaking out at night thinking someone may again enter our room. This could’ve been dangerous, something could be happened to us or our stuff may have been stolen.

I loved our stay at the Jazz on the Park Hostel. I will definitely stay there again! There is no laundry or breakfast or anything on site but there is a laundry facility nearby, subway access nearby, everything is super close - only a few steps from the middle of Central Park. I'd stay here again for sure! Highly recommend.

Updated private room with AC. A bit snug but quiet and clean. No internet in the room which was disappointing. Also bathrooms need work: Badly designed sink and water bugs in mens shower. Good location near train and Central Park. Helpful Staff. All in all a 4 out of 5.

I rarely leave reviews, but this experience called for one. Had some issues during check-in where they couldn't confirm my pre-paid stay. Once we finally got our keys we walked up four flights of stairs through a key-activated door to our private bunk room. Look, you're paying a lower rate than most stays in NYC, so don't expect a large, updated room, or a private bathroom and showers (just a curtain between stalls.) Location is a saving grace: close to metro stations and half a block from northwest Central Park But, the mattress covers and the bed spreads provided were filthy and stained. We had to go buy bedding from Target just to sleep through the night and still felt gross.

The bunk beds were as expected- not super comfy nor terrible. But the floor was very busy all night which was surprising for us. Doors were opening and closing and there were people talking all night long as well

Think twice using this facility
No light in the room, stale smoke smell all over room ( advertise themself as non smoking facility), out of five sinks only one had only cold water, no hot water at all, there was no heat in the room, the temperature was 62 Fahrenheit, no toilet paper in restroom, restrooms did not lock ( locks were broken), only advantage Central Park was very close to go for morning walk, was overcharged by hotel.com for about 150$, and did not want to return the money

This hostel was good for spending the night somewhere if you were in the city late. I only stayed for a night. The blanket provided is thin and there wasn’t any pillows( didn’t ask about them sue to being tired) .

Stayed here for the first time as I was attending a concert at Terminal 5. I liked the property was within walking distance of Central Park where one can easily grab the Metro. Though the property could use a paint job, and thicker blankets to provide people with for sleeping as there was no heater in the room which left the room a bit on the cold side, I did find the accommodations suitable for the price paid. I also like that there was a vending machine on my floor that I could grab a snack or drink at. Overall, I'd definitely stay again.

I have been staying at Jazz on the Park since 2001. I continued to bring groups of students there for many many years. My husband and I went this weekend for the first time in a few years and it was such a disappointment. The entrance, cafe area, hallways, bathrooms and rooms were dirty, unkept, in disrepair, and depressing. It went from my favorite place to stay to the worse place I’ve ever stayed. I’ve traveled to developing world countries and stayed at many very basic places, but none as dirty and unkept as Jazz has become. So disappointing.

We checked in and the room was like the previous guests had just left in a hurry, and housekeeping was not there that day. Room was dirty, messy, Sheets were dirty with blood and semen stains all over. We tried to get the front desk staff to help or do something about it and the person wasn't even surprised or trying to help. So we just had to leave and ended up getting a bus back home and cutting our weekend short.

It was the worst hotel I’ve ever been to. No bathrooms inside of the rooms. They have shared showers and toilets in the hallways. The rooms have bunk beds like if we were children staying there. You can’t bring food or drinks upstairs. It was by far the worst experience. The only thing good was the a/c.

Cheap price but disgusting and creepy.
This hostel was a good price for the location. The cheaper price was the only redeeming quality. However, overall our experience was creepy and disappointing. This hostel has major cleanliness issues. There were ants everywhere in our room, the walls looked like they’ve never been cleaned before. Although, the bed and sheets were adequate. No signs of bed bugs. Toilets were so-so. Many people didn’t flush (not hostel’s fault) but floors were very dirty. Showers had dead cockroaches and bandaids on the floor. Security was okay. You needed a card to swipe to get past the lobby and into your room. Staff were friendly and helped us get water after the vending machine ate our money. The vibe was not travel friendly. I think we were the only tourists from out of town. Everyone else seemed like they were locals staying here for the cheap price. Overall I just felt uneasy and creeped out the entire time. One early morning there was a crazy person running up and down the halls banging on the walls. When we phoned the front desk nobody answered. We waited until it died down before sticking our head out and the person was gone.Overall a creepy and disappointing experience. I would not stay here again. I would not recommend others to stay here.

Average. Location great. Had to go up one floor to use men's room.Absurd each floor doesn't have one for each gender. Also paid $5.00 for towel. Don't remember seeing that in description of hotel. Also $5.00 to store luggage for day. Every hostel ever stayed in is free, except give maybe $2.00 for tip to store luggage. Rooms super small. Overall give it a fair at most review.

Staff not trained correctly. Was told I did not have access to my own private bathroom that i had to share a bathroom with everyone on the floor like a locker room. Which was in incorrect. I was told that so that I could purchase and borrow their $5 towel. Was given blankets for my stay. However there are blankets on the bed. So this gave me the assumption that the sheets are not cleaned. The bathroom had no cold water and was full of mold. Underneath the bathroom had GOYA brand cooking oil and used hotel FRESH toothpaste. The light fixtures we’re damp and barely worked.
