Only stayed for a night as we were seeing a gig at the Royal Albert Hall. Super convenient location, less than 10 mins to walk to the venue. Science/Natural History Museums all around the corner too, as was South Kensington tube station so very easy to get about. Area was quiet, although busy on a weekday morning as there is a school close by. We booked a budget double room but it was quite spacious, appreciated the AC as it was very hot in London. Bathroom and amenities were good. Only let down was the front desk staff looked super unhappy to be there! When we first arrived to check in, we were greeted by a pretty miserable looking woman! Not great customer service on check out either but we didn't need to interact with staff much during our stay so didn't bother us too much.

Really great stay at the Gainsborough. Spacious, clean, quiet, well-appointed single room. Helpful staff. The only negatives - the room was grey and charmless. The door of the en-suite was fitted so that you had to access the toilet by getting into the shower. Entertaining!

The hotel was on a good location for our evening concert at The Royal Albert Hall. The room was clean and tidy. The decor and finish was quite poor in places cheaply done with poor workmanship. The shower didn’t work correctly with scalding hot water not able to be regulated. Complaints merely got a response of maintenance will look at it tomorrow. Unfortunately after we had left. The shower was unsafe to use.

This hotel is ideal for trips to museums, parks and Royal Albert Hall. Clean with tea/coffee/water provided together with basic bathroom toiletries. The bed was clean as was the linen and towels and a hairdryer was provided. The air conditioning in my allocated room was very noisy but unable to switch off and the only window was a tiny one in the en-suite with the most restricted and horribly dirty outlook. Overall I would say it is a 3 star hotel but so convenient for the area.

The hotel building is a classic in a European City, built some time ago. The condition is like new, but the size of the bathroom is really tiny, mostly the sink and shower size. The size of the room is also very small. Location is good, and it is an affordable hotel somehow close to the city center. The staff was awesome and very friendly, among them Ditta and Enmanuel. Overall, I will return to this hotel, and recommend it to everyone to stay few days in London. I want to thank the staff for their treatment and attention to us.

Overall I had a good stay. You’re definitely paying for the location. It’s awesome! You’re right by the national history museum, and I could easily jump on the underground and get to all the sights really quickly. I had the single (twin bed) room. It was small, but functional. Housekeeping did a great job of refreshing my room and the front desk man was great. The lift was out of service during my entire visit, so that was a bit annoying having to walk up and down from the top floor, but whatever, extra exercise. my biggest complaint though was that the hot water in my shower was waaaaaay too hot!!! It basically had 2 settings — scolding hot or 3rd degree burn hot.

The service was so friendly and welcoming, unfortunately the lifts were out of order (and I was on the 4th floor) but they arranged for my bag to be taken up. The room was clean and there was water and teas/coffees provided (nice touch). Plus 24hr concierge, so no late night access problems. So the only negative and sadly a big negative were the pillows. They were like solid bricks - I kept waking all through the night because of them. What a shame as the bed was fine. Please do something about your pillows - they were terrible and ruined what would have been a very pleasant stay.

I loved staying at Gainsborough Hotel. As a soli traveller who is 140lbs(63kg), the shower was still tough but at least I had my own restroom. It was very quiet and I enjoyed staying. If someone is big (70kg or higher), then it will be very hard to take a shower. Other than shower, everything was perfect. I felt very comfortable while staying
