"We had a fantastic stay at the Martinhal in Chiado. We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment for 4 nights and the accommodation was excellent - very clean, spacious, quiet and great that the bunk beds were in the living space as opposed to the main bedroom. The breakfast was good - not as comprehensive as other hotels I've been too - but enough choice to ensure that everyone was well fed before heading out for a day tackling Lisbon's hills. "Breakfast buffet excellent as were the staff. Elegant building but room on 6th floor was noisy. We were able to hear the conversation of people in the room next door even though they were only talking and were woken by their alarm. Bed was firm. However hotel is situated in an excellent central location next to a metro station."

"A very nice hotel and overall a good place to stay, but I would say it is 4* rather than 5*. We had a Junior Suite which was lovely, but there were a few things not working - i.e. the electric blinds in the bathroom, the shower door did not shut properly, and there was a sewer-like smell at our end of the corridor.
