Puget Sound/Mtn Sunrise View - NO CLEANING FEE- *PLEASE READ FULL DESCRIPTION *

Situated on 2+ acres, this "attached guesthouse" offers stunning sunrise views of Hat Island, Puget Sound, and the Cascade Mountains. Relax on your private deck with morning coffee or a bottle of wine from one of Whidbey Islands award winning wineries. We are a 5 min walk to Comforts of Whidbey winery and a 5 minute drive to the seaside village of Langley, filled with fantastic restaurants and charming shops. This property is a perfect couples getaway. Your privacy is our top priority.

First Light is a non-smoking property. We have a no pets and shoes-off policy and no children under the age of 12.

IMPORTANT- if for any reason you need to cancel, YOU MUST CANCEL YOUR OWN RESERVATION. Simply pull up your VRBO account and cancel your reservation directly through VRBO prior to the “no fee cancellation period” of 14 days. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this causes. If you are unable to cancel within the timeframe of 14 days prior to your stay, contact me directly and we can arrange for you to “reschedule “ but I will be unable to provide a refund.

*This guesthouse is designed for two guests only. If you wish to include a third guest you MUST obtain permission from the host and an additional charge will be collected at check-in per person, per night. Please, NO parties.

The guesthouse bedrooms are located on the second floor. The rooms are well appointed but please be aware that the ceiling height on the 2nd floor is 6’-8” and therefore is not recommended for individuals over 6’-5”. The master bedroom has a stunning view and is spacious and very comfortable.
The eat-in kitchen is fully equipped for cooking and the deck offers dining and lounging areas. Deer are frequent visitors and eagles nest nearby.
During March and April keep an eye out for whale watching boats. Gray whales spouting can often be seen.
The living room has a TV with cable and access to Netflix and HBO. There are books, games and puzzles as well as binoculars at your disposal.
There is a fire pit (upon request) with plenty of fire wood, when burn bans are not in place.
Although your privacy is important to us, we are available to answer questions or make recommendations on activities and restaurants.

Perfect for 2
First Light is a comfortable and scenic home away from home with wonderful access to the town of Langley. My wife and I were warmly greeted when we arrived. The accommodations were well stocked with everything we needed to prepare our meals and the king size bed was very comfortable. The main bedroom upstairs has a lovely view and we had deer and rabbits outside our window at times.

Mary and Mark are such wonderful people! Their guesthouse is quiet, private, and very clean! The special touches they provided were so sweet. We felt so relaxed and welcome! Whidbey Island Retreat
This was our second stay at Whidbey First Light. From the moment we arrived, Mary and Mark were so helpful. We were greeted and welcomed into our space. The blankets, including an electric blanket, were wonderful additions for mornings on the deck. The views are unsurpassed. A perfect way to begin the day. The overhang is deep enough that even the rain didn’t get to us. The cottage had everything we need, including a bed that was super comfortable. Given that the first time we visited was so wonderful, this second trip had a lot to live up to and did not disappoint. Thank you and we will definitely come back again.

As good as it gets!
We couldn’t have imagined a better place to stay on Whidbey. Mary & Mark made us feel so welcomed and assured that we could contact them any time. We received an immediate response when we did so. The guesthouse was CLEAN with tasteful updates, had a great cozy feel. Mary had provided coffee, tea and some tasty treats to get us off to a great start on our vacation, along with ample information about places to visit. The seating in the living room is very comfortable - which stands out relative to prior experiences in other rentals with slouchy couches and rigid uncomfortable chairs. The view from living room, bedroom (2nd floor) and deck look directly out to the water where we were able to experience sunrise mornings and the evenings full moon. Location was close enough to Langley. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thanks Mary & Mark!

Second wonderful visit
Last time I stayed was a solo trip, but this time I brought my husband. He loved it too and we're already wanting to book our next trip. Next time we'll stay longer though to have more time sitting on the deck. We loved walking down to Comforts and being so close to all the fabulous restaurants in Langley.

This was our second time at First Light in Langley. Mary's place is a wonderful getaway, a peaceful serene spot outside Langley, Washington, with a beautiful view looking out toward the Cascades beyond the waters of Saratoga Passage. Water, mountains, wildlife, and quiet: ah, relaxation that can't be beat. Mary is a wonderfully thoughtful host offering privacy and a lovely place so well-stocked with everything one could need. We can't wait to return there again!

Great view
Everything about First Light on Whidbey Island was great, especially the view from our bedroom and living room. Owners very respectful of our privacy. Didn't realize the "cottage" was attached to the owner's house, but the owners were very quiet, and their being on the property didn't detract from our stay. Would have liked to have stayed longer to get to know them better. Very nice people!

This has to be as close to heaven as possible. This was our third visit to First Light. You will find no better hosts than Mark and Mary! This trip is our escape from the real world. Peace and serenity! Morning coffee on the deck watching the sunrise, the deer, the birds and the water. Evening on the deck, a bottle of wine, watching the sunset! What a relaxing time. We are made to feel like this is our summer vacation home. Can't wait for next summer. Mary and Mark, thanks for sharing your guest house.

Best view ever!
Staying at First Light was a dream! Mary and Mark are fantastic hosts and the place itself is lovely—clean, well-equipped, comfortable. The view is so breathtaking we had to force ourselves to leave and go do things. And when we did, downtown Langley was less than ten minutes away. We were also very close to both the Coupeville ferry (~30 minutes) and the Clinton ferry (~10 minutes). Highly recommend First Light and can’t wait to come back!

Heaven on Whidbey Island!
From the moment we arrived, we were enchanted and delighted with this place. We were warmly welcomed by our hosts, Mary & Mark, and helped inside with the too/much-stuff that we brought. Much time spent on the sunny deck with a killer view of the water. The unit was absolutely charming and beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. They had thought of everything! I could go on and on and rave but this was one sweet getaway. We’ll be back!!!

First off Mary is very good with communication. She was on top of it. The property is half the experience. It well maintained and you can tell they take pride in it. The inside is quaint, clean and in very nice shape. Add the fact that they are wonderful people ass well makes everything a pleasure. I don’t have enough nice words to say about this lovely getaway. You feel your city stress or any stress melt away. It’s a real treat. As are Mark and Mary, I think they are my newly adopted parents. But for sure they will be my friend. 10 out of 10 for me.

First View is heavenly!
Anyone visiting Whidbey Island in the Langley area should stay here! The view is the most fabulous part of staying here, but our hosts, Mary and Mark were wonderful as well. Mary gave us so many great ideas for eating, shopping, and sightseeing, and the best place to watch the sunset. Our living area had everything we needed and Mary is a great decorator! Mark even treated us to homemade muffins one morning. The quiet along with the birdsong made this a peaceful retreat, but still close to town. I hope to return and I know where I'll be staying! We had a simply lovely time.

Super people, super place!
First of all, one would be hard-pressed to find more gracious hosts than Mary and Mark. We got a warm welcome upon arrival, with helpful suggestions about places to go and just a few basic instructions, and then they were very respectful of our privacy, though our paths often crossed and they always seemed interested in hearing what we had done during the day. Mary would occasionally send us texts when there was something of interest outside (the bald eagles that often soared by, the glow of Hat Island in the twilight, the appearance of Mount Rainier in the morning, visible from our deck). While thoughtful, the texts were often unnecessary, because we were already sitting outside observing the beauty and wildlife of this magnificent place. Each day we went somewhere (we highly recommend a hike at Ebey's Landing), but were always eager to return to that backyard, where we would sit in the Adirondack chairs, often speechless, awed by the beauty surrounding us, as at peace as one can be. A special thanks to "Mountain Man" Mark, who kept the wood chopped and started our fires each evening in the portable fire pit. It was just too hard to go inside with that view outside, so we would often linger out on the deck until the stars appeared, warmed by an electric blanket. That blanket was one of many thoughtful touches inside and out that made us feel right at home and conveyed the love that went into this place. We will be back!
