This is a special place for all to enjoy on the BEST lake in California. Flat, easy to find, 80-90 degree water in the summer and 365 miles of shoreline when full. Located on the most desirable part of the lake (the upper Sacramento arm in the wonderful community of Lakehead).

For more information please see our website by doing a search for "shasta lakeshore retreat."

Due to a great number of returning guests we tend to book up early especially for the summer months. Our 2024 and 2025 calendars are now open.

Notes: this is a wonderful place but there are several things we want to make sure our guests understand:

1. The house has a trail to the water's edge and marina but the elderly should avoid and children should be monitored at all times.

2. There is wildlife so please be aware when children and pets are present.

3. Although Lake Shasta is the best lake for water sports, swimming, fishing and general boating in California, it is a reservoir like many lakes in California. The water is let out all year long into the Sacramento river which supplies water to many parts of the state. This pushes our distance from the lake house to the water out as the level drops. For 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2023 the lake filled to top....in 2020 it was 30' from the top and 2021/2022 was down significantly. Go to our website and check the "Shasta Lake Water Level" page for our latest updates. 2024 is expected to be very full again.

4. The lower water levels might make the boat ramp several hundred yards further and will make the walk to the marina longer or require you to drive. Even in 2015 and 2021 when the lake was the lowest, it still took us only 30-45 minutes to drive our boat at speed from one end to the other. There was plenty of famous Shasta WATER. Although rare, if the water level drops to 140' or more it starts to impact the availability of the local boat ramps and marina. This requires a drive to another part of the lake. We have never seen a situation where there is no access to the lake and all marinas were closed.

5. The decks are high off the ground. Although they have railings as you would expect, if you have children, you need to watch them at all times outside as a fall from the deck would be serious or life threatening.

6. The stairway to the lower floor is steep. If you have elderly staying with you, we recommend they stay on the top floor.

7. We are strict with our rules including max number of guests (12), max vehicles/trailers of 5. The first 7 guests are covered by the base rate. There is an addition $15 per person charge per night for the number of guests beyond the 7. We do this to offer a lower rate for smaller groups that have less wear and tear on the home.

8. Forest fires are common in summer and fall in Northern California. Obviously we have no way of controlling these events so please assume that smoke from a fire might impact your stay. Please do not book our homes during these high risk fire seasons if you have concerns about air quality or have people in your group with any asthmatic health conditions.

9. NO SMOKING! NO WOOD FIRES OUTSIDE!

10. Rental Agreement Required at time of booking.

Peaceful Lakeside Vacation
We enjoyed the lakefront location and the separation from adjacent neighbors that this house provides. The beds were comfortable and there was adequate seating for a large group both inside and on the lovely deck. The a/c kept us cool and the house seemed to have every little thing we needed to cook several meals. We look forward to returning in the future.

Stay went good. Except some small issues. Description of beds was little wrong. And was not enough spoonful first night but owner fixed that quickly. One night neigbours was having party and screamed and fighted till 3-4 am. We spoke to them next day and they finished their party earlier next day . I just misunderstood about firerpit and made fire and iy was not allowed to use. Everything else was fine.

Great spot
The lake was super low but the house was still very close to the marina so we just drove over. Lots of games to play, an outdoor bbq, and a well stocked kitchen. Beware there is no AC if you’re planning to visit during a hot time of year…

Perfect Cabin
Loved our time at Shasta! Cabin was awesome. Kitchen was well stocked, bedrooms had lots of sleeping accommodations (very comfortable beds), and the home felt very clean. AC worked great-a nice break from the high temps outside! Water levels were so low that it was quite a hike down to the lake-hopefully we’ll be able to return another time when the water is higher. Would definitely recommend this lovely cabin as a great alternative to a houseboat!

Good location, The water was extremely low so we didn't have a location to Moore our boat. Sugarloaf marina had slips to purchase Daily which was Very close by. Swamp cooler did not help much since it was over 100 degrees each day. overall it was a good place to stay, needs some improvements.

Great getaway property
The property was exactly as described. It had everything we needed for our party of 8. The beds were all very comfortable. Plenty of linens were provided. The deck had seating for all, a propane and charcoal BBQ and an ice chest! The home also has 2 refrigerators. The home doesn't have central A/C which didn't matter because the ducted swamp cooler did an amazing job of keeping us cool during our stay when outside temps hit 108° The seating around the firepit was great and we appreciated the wood supplied to roast marshmallows. The grounds were very well kept and clean. We have a 25ft wakeboat and we did not try to drive around the driveway due to a steep incline with a sharp turn...so we backed it down the driveway from the entrance of the street. Not ideal but we made it work.. A smaller truck and trailer would be fine driving around the house. There isn't a washer and dryer so bring plenty of lake towels! Lastly, this home location would be absolutely perfect durring a surplus water year. The water during our stay was to low to enjoy the lake from the shoreline. We can't wait to book this property again!

Rustic Cabin with basic essentials
We enjoyed our stay very much. Cabin was as described and well stocked with essentials. 2 types of coffee maker (drip/Keurig) and both propane/charcoal grills. Based on no-burn rules in CA, better to go with propane. Previous guests did not properly clean grill. As reported by other guests, internet very slow, so not just WIFI issue. Cell coverage with Verizon very spotty. This presented challenge for us, due to owning business and being out of range for emergencies that popped up. If you are looking to unplug, good option.

Wonderful memories made!
The view of the lake and surrounding hills is spectacular. Always something to do, 3 friendly deer stroll through nightly, full kitchen to cook or use the grill outside. Ample sleeping, air hockey and foosball, we can't wait to return. Mount Shasta, Lake Shasta, Caverns, dinner boats or just a day at the cabin, this will be a new family tradition. Thank you for an unforgettable time!

The cabin had a great view of the lake! Although it was a bit of a walk down to the lakeshore. The backyard space felt very private and made it more comfortable. The kids had a lot of fun, they were especially surprised by the air hockey table. We greatly enjoyed our stay, the cabin was very spacious and accommodating. Thank you!
