Spacious Cape Style house on 43 acres with pond

Two different opinions in the same family

"I loved the home. So peaceful. I would get up in the morning, get a cup of coffee and sit on the front porch listening to the birds. One evening I sat with my brother talking next to the fire pit table. I would have loved to use the fire pit on the side of the house but my father couldn’t get down there. For me it was exactly what I wanted. However the first thing my SIL noticed was no TV and no radio. I suggested she use her phone. She is in her late 70s and didn’t bring it with her since she was with her husband. My brother said she had never lived in a place so quiet. When I travel I rarely look at TV so I didn’t notice it lacking in the pictures. My sister said she didn’t notice either. The kitchen was large and the large dining table was perfect for dinner and playing games. The lighting in the house was wonderful too. The one negative thing we all agreed on was the stairs going down to the basement needs a railing on the top half, it would be nice to have it to hold on to while carrying a suitcase downstairs. A young family probably wouldn’t notice but at 58 I was the youngest at our mini family reunion. For anyone wanting a quiet retreat this is a wonderful choice."

Entire Cottage on the Deer River with 2 Bedrooms

"This property is a gem! Well appointed, spotless, beautiful views, quiet surroundings, and the owners are lovely! Easy check in, and comfortable beds too. I arrived late due to a delayed flight and was thrilled to find some snacks available (as I didn’t have time to stop for anything). Great communication which was appreciated. I’ve stayed at many different properties and this is by far the nicest. The cleanliness factor alone would have put it in the top 10 easily, but the extra touches and aforementioned items made it zoom right to number 1! If you’re looking for a quiet retreat, this is the place. "

Well run independent hotel

"Casual comfort. The Blue Spruce in Masena NY is an independent establishment with the convenience of a well appointed motel plus the charm, extras, and outstanding service of a traditional B&B. The owners and staff were attentive and met all our requests. The fresh doughnuts were amazing and the gift shop with organic and sustainable products was a gem. The staff clued us in to some top rate local restaurants which added to the warmth and charm of our stay. We love staying at independent hotels and appreciate when we can walk away feeling a connection to the place. The Blue Spruce Motel fit the bill!"
