Lined by upscale restaurants and salsa-playing bars, Dado Zamir Beach is one of Haifa’s most central and popular strands. Its long promenade has cafés and shops and provides striking views of the Mediterranean Sea. Relax on a bench facing the water and watch the waves lap the shores of Haifa.
Bring a blanket to spread out on the long and sandy beach for sunbathing or a picnic with friends. Take advantage of the hot summer weather to bask in the sun, before cooling down in the sea. The strong and consistent waves here draw surfers and other watersports enthusiasts to these shores.
As you stroll along the extended, scenic promenade, notice the bright green patches and floral displays. Sample the delicious Eastern cuisine on the menus of the restaurants opposite the ocean. The beach also has a dance floor for its weekly public dance nights.
Let your little ones frolic in the toddler wading pool, while older kids make the most of the sport and recreation area. Go jogging or cycling on the boulevard and attend some of the activities and events organized in the amphitheater.
Note that lifeguards regularly patrol this beach from several towers spread across it. The shoreline here is equipped with modern amenities, including dressing rooms, restrooms and showers. The beach is named after David (Dado) Elazar, who was the Israeli chief of staff during the Yom Kippur War.
Dado Zamir Beach lies along the western side of Haifa, in the Kfar Samir district. Ride the train west from the Haifa Center station to the Hof Carmel station near the beach. You can also take a bus to one of the many stops in the area or drive and leave your car in the free parking spaces. Visit some of the neighboring attractions, such as Park Shikmona, the Azrieli Mall Haifa and the Bustan Khayat.
