Beautiful property and the restaurant was delicious. Henry was the best waiter and went above and beyond. The staff provided impeccable service. I would definitely return and recommend this hotel to friends. The rooftop pool was an oasis, a real treat from the heat of Cartagena. Loved it!

Loved this hotel! The staff were amazing, loved the rooftop pool. In a super convenient area to restaurants and bars. Very comfortable bed also and perfectly sized room.

Quality doesnt match the pricepoint
The overall quality of rooms did not match the pricepoint at all- The bad: - Some walls had a sign of water damage - Some smell of moisture and possibly mold - No ventilation in bathrooms - While I cant prove this for certain but most of our party (staying in different rooms in same hotel) had bug bites - Breakfast looks appealing and good selection but the quality of food is just above average Overall staff were really friendly and kind - with a very notable exception of Hector who at check out was exceptionally rude (causing me to write this review and not let it go)

There is a different credit card machine for American cards that most of the staff doesn't know how to use and only works some of the time, my husband thinks it's because they want cash so they make it difficult. Some of the food is okay salads, eggs were good. Don't eat the dairy tastes like it turned they don't refrigerate or chill the milk for coffee and it's 90 degrees out it tastes sour, avoid the beef it tasted like it had been left out gone bad we both spit it out couldn't eat it. There's a hilton next door that was safe to eat at. The shuttle service is just them calling a cab for you, which is risky because they're known to change the rate mid ride better off with an uber. Also pretty sure they water down the vodka my husband had 5 vodka sodas in the sun by the pool didn't feel a thing lol but how do you prove that. The front of the desk speaks English but that's it. And it's an indoor outdoor hotel so you may find a giant lizzard in your room like us. However it's still one of the nicest hotels in cartagena, clean and safe and the massages were great.

Was great before, came back and enjoyed again
Have stayed here before and enjoyed it again. Very friendly staff. Great pool on the roof and nice interiors. Not part of an international hotel chain, which gives it more individuality. You definitely need to go to the Mekani Beach Club on Tierra Bomba which is affiliated with the hotel. Relaxed beach-club where you won't be hassled by vendors

The hotel is awesome. It is beautiful, staff is very friendly and professional. They offer a very good breakfast, buffet style and a la carte as well. The pool on the roof top is very nice to relax for a couple of hours or to cool down a bit. We have stayed here 4 times and it never disappoints.

Excellent costumer service. Hector The concierge was veey helpful and all the staff in general was attentive and kind. The breakfasts was very goood, only setback was that the kitchen was a little slow, but the waiters tried hard to help

My second stay and still a success. Only tiny complaint is that at least half of the staff only spoke Spanish. Not a big deal but still posed a few challenges while ordering breakfast etc.

We enjoyed staying at this property. They treat you like VIP. Excellent services, amazing breakfast with a variety of healthy options, live music in the evening, great food & presentation at the restaurant. Pool and roof top are really nice too. I think the staff at this place is really the best I’ve had in a long time! Definitely recommend it!

Great hotel in the heart of Cartagena old city. Close to everything. The one gripe is the bathroom door for the toilet is glass and does not extend to full height. There is also no fan meaning any dirty business is all over the room. Service and onsite restaurant is excellent though. Would stay again if i can get over the lack of any privacy with the toilet area.

Loved this property! Beautiful and well maintained, staff was very attentive and courteous and a bountiful breakfast spread was provided daily. Would definitely stay here again and again.

Exceptional!
Bastion is one of the best hotels! The location is perfect to walk everywhere in the walled city, close to the airport. Ther service is amazing and provided wonderful recommendations and assistance to excursions. Then there is the beauty of the hotel itself- the rooms are stunning, the rooftop has one of the best sunsets and overal the design is amazing. I would give it 10 stars!

The staff at this hotel was amazing. Management, on the other hand, were so inflexible, shortsighted, and deficient of basic customer service skills. Due to sudden severe storms, our flight was changed to to the following day. I immediately contacted the hotel! I was told by the hotel that Expedia had to make the adjustment on their end. However, Expedia could not adjust the hotel reservation due to how close the reservation was and so they contacted the hotel directly. The hotel denied the adjustment request. I booked two rooms that were not going to be occupied that included breakfasts that would not be eaten. During check out, I revisited the issue with them and at that point they told me that because Expedia didn’t “email” them, nothing could be done. I showed them the chat thread with Expedia and because I was bordering begging, I gave up on the back and forth. I’m right in front of you with documentation from Expedia of all my effort. So what purpose does an email serve? You can’t make up stipulations as you go. And when Expedia contacted you, why not tell them to send an email? It’s the lying that really took me over the edge. The fact that they were okay with me leaving their hotel unhappy and annoyed was so disappointing. No one was asking for a full credit but some adjustment would have demonstrated optimal customer service and a dedication to guest satisfaction. Also, leaky ceiling, mold covered ceiling, shower that wouldn’t drain

Wife and I stayed 3 nights and had an amazing stay. We arranged transportation with the hotel to and from the airport which was great because a lot of locals recommended to avoid a taking cabs. We had a king room which probably bass the best shower over used, you can fit a small car in it. Unfortunately the room next to us had some pipe burst or something and they did construction work in the middle of the night, but the hotel made it right and put us up in one of their master suites.. was unbelievable. Staff was helpful and friendly, location was quiet yet convenient to walk anywhere in walled city. Rooftop pool with bar service was amazing and views of the city rooftops where great, they even had kind of like a conservation deck point for better views and pictures.. We would stay here again!

The property was amazing perfect location, restaurants bars, shops felt super safe. all the stuff at the property was very attentive super sweet and nice would definitely recommend this hotel and definitely will be coming back.
