I have always enjoyed staying at this hotel. It’s in a great location. Close to the beach and walkable to town and so many restaurants. It’s great that they offer chairs and an umbrella at the beach. My favorite perk. But, next time I will bring my own just in case. They weren’t available in the Friday, and if it storms in the morning they might not open, even if is nicer later in the day. The staff is very friendly and go out of their way to help you.

Charming, comfortable, safe and near the shopping/dining area. No modern amenities, including a television, but not a huge issue. No onsite parking, but was able to find street parking. The door of my room was a bit tricky to close. The locking bolt sometimes didn’t catch and I had to make sure to close the door firmly. But these are all minor and, overall, the accommodations were very good. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here because my 79yo mother in law speaks so fondly and highly of the Chalfonte. We can see how she was taken by this place. There were lots of signs of a bygone era when it was in its heyday from the Magnolia dining room (which was closed during our stay), the period appropriate decorations and furnishings. However, much of it was showing its age such as paintings were old and faded and wicker furniture was broken and needed fresh coat of paint. Yet, we still appreciated the historical context reminiscent of that time. The staff were mostly young (probably summer college crowd home for the summer), all friendly and eager to help, some more experienced and helpful than others. The only food option at the hotel was the bar with limited menu and live music. The wrap around porch with rocking chairs and tables with linens to socialize were charming. Location was awesome since there was plenty of free street parking and not more than 10 minute walk to the beach and shops and restaurants. The hotel offered beach passes which allowed you on the beach with chairs and umbrella for free, a huge bonus. Another hidden surprise was the cupula, which offered a gret view of the beautiful view of the homes in the neighborhood and the ocean. Overall, it was a good value for what we got. Although it's not the same place that my MIL talks about, we still enjoyed our visit and would consider returning.

The walls we're so thin and we were on the 3rd floor. The parries and music we're so loud we couldn't sleep the first night and there was no tv even the worst hotels have a tv. The step up to the bathroom isn't noticeable and we bith tripped several times. The room is also full of ants by the window side. If your looking for a place to get drunk and just pass out this is good but if your looking for a comfortable quiet place this isnt it because its just way too loud.

I called the hotel before our stay to ask if there was a refridgerator in the room. They said there was not one in the room we had reserved but when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised to find one, so we appreciated them putting us in as room with a refridgerator. Only minor complaint was having trouble finding power outlets for our devices - will probably just have to travel with a power strip. Otherwise staff was very friendly, hotel and room was very clean and atmosphere was perfectly charming for our few days getaway.

Loved staying in the Southern Quarters. It felt cozy and quiet. I was also pleased to find a tea kettle and coffee maker, among other things, in the common kitchen area. The room was quiet and clean. I spent a full afternoon on the porch, sitting in a rocking chair. I will be back!

Very quiet and clean. I’m picky with bathrooms and this one was absolutely perfect, clean shower no odd grime or dirt. The floors were also very clean. I always bring slippers because some hotels leave your feet dusty/dirty but this time I didn’t need them.

It was nice to experience the ambience, warmth, and nostalgia of a 1900's boarding house. Staying at the winter lodgings of the Chalfonte " South Residence" was like stepping back to a time that may soon be forgotten. Wonderful visit to Cape May.

Nice quaint stay, but some improvements needed.
Need to replace the dirty coffee maker without water available with a Keurig machine. Also, Kleenex tissues in the room would be nice. Also, in the original hotels dot come listing there was no indication the actual hotel was closed. Kind of a bait and switch.
