We were arriving very late but the hotel staff couldn't do enough to accommodate. They were simply brilliant. Every email sent was replied to very quickly. Our key was placed in a digital lock box and code provided. The bedroom was very spacious along with a wonderful spacious bathroom. The shower gave instant hot water. The variety and quality of the breakfast was absolutely on point. Doubt they could have made it any better. As the hotel is in the former GDR it has wonderful charm and appeal. This is a hotel well worth driving out of your way for. Fantastic!!

This was our 3rd visit to Torfhaus Resort Hotel. It is our favorite. The location in the Harz Mountains is serene, but also full of possibilities for hiking, biking, and quick travel to picturesque towns. The houses/cabins at the resort are maintained in excellent condition. There is plenty of room for a family. We enjoy sitting on the deck with a meal and looking at the beautiful views of the forest. We accidentally left some belongings at the hotel. The staff was very gracious and quickly shipped them to us. This is a well-run, top quality resort offered at a very affordable price.

Not sure if this is typical in Germany but I found no soap, shampoo or conditioner in the bath room. It's the first time I stayed in a German hotel. Also, there is no elevator so you would need to take stairs, which could be hard for some people. Others are all good, I only stayed for two nights anyway.
