The hotel was "fancy" and the staff was exceptional. However, the surrounding area was quite isolated with not much to explore. We arrived early and were able to check in to our room. Unfortunately, there was some construction taking place at the hotel that was not mentioned during the booking process. As a result, we were initially given a room that had construction happening right outside our window. Thankfully, Orlando at the front desk was incredibly helpful and accommodating. He was able to move us to a room on the other side of the building, away from the noise. It's worth noting that the hotel doesn't currently have a pool or any other designated area for guests to relax outside of their rooms.

Great location because of being able to walk to bank, shopping, access to transportation to keys, museums, historic neighborhoods, nightlife. Restaurant staff was friendly and engaging. Definitely can recommend to anyone.

Check in was easy and the staff was friendly! We loved that we were able to arrange a shuttle to pick us up from the airport! It took away from the hassle of trying to find a taxi. Our room was clean and as described. The only downfall was that there was construction going on outside our room that started at 8am that we didn’t know about until we arrived. Otherwise, our stay was great. We loved the restaurant on the rooftop for breakfast. Great views and good service!

The hotel was great and the staff was very nice and helpful. The front desk arranged a taxi for us and it was very convenient. The restaurant had very good food. Just beware of the tile floor in the bathroom! It gets extremely slick when wet.

I like to start with the good! The hotel staff were very nice! Always greeted with a smile and a hello. The King Suite we rented was incredible and huge!! Our family could not stop talking about it and wanting to come visit. Several said next time they need some time away, they will come here! The restaurant was delicious! Yummy food and very nice staff, especially Holdane! He was professional and always went that extra mile for us every time. The only 1 criticism is the cleaning staff. We actually had to ask to get our room cleaned, on almost a daily basis, which I found strange. When they did clean, it was not that great. Floors were dirty.

A/C only works while in room with your key card, so takes a while to cool down. Our a/c stopped working in the middle of the night and we weren't able to fix it before check out. We were supposed to get an ocean view, and while you could spot the ocean from the window, the predominant view was of construction on the building's addition.

GB is somewhat isolated, but taxis are cheap. The hotel is very clean and has a good restaurant, but the upper patio is closed for construction, so there is nowhere to go to just relax in the shade, and this was not noted in the expedia or hotel information. There are no beaches near. It is a 12 minute walk to the ferry terminal, which is nice. If I were to go to Belize City again I would probably stay on San Pedro or Caye Caulker, and take the ferry back in to Belize City for any tours.

The hotel was super clean and the cleaning and waiter staff were super Pleasant and friendly. That said, the day was so horrible our group had to check out and secure new lodging elsewhere. Where to begin.. upon arrival, the elevator was inoperable, so we had to climb four flights of stairs only to settle in a superior Suite that was about 90° F upon entry because the air conditioning was also inoperable. Additionally, the $360 per night Kitchen in the superior Suite that we booked for 5 days was understood with the simplest kitchen utensils including silverware. Smh!. The manager, although friendly in nature offered nothing and compensation accepting an apology for failing to provide the level of amenity as promised. I don't get me wrong, aesthetically the place was roomy at 1200 square feet with ceiling to floor windows surrounding the entire sweet, but in 100° weather it's hard to appreciate the ocean view while sweating bullets! The next day, our business group of 10 checked out, then checked into the Fort George Hotel and Spa which for exceeded our expectations! Needless to say, we will be revisiting for George very soon. Between the construction and the lack of amenity, the golden Bay has left a bad impression.

Dear Mr. Terrance,We are disappointed to read your comment, especially considering the extensive efforts we made to address your concerns and offer multiple solutions. Nonetheless, we feel compelled to respond to each point in your review, as we believe there are discrepancies with reality:A fire broke out and destroyed a house less than 500 meters away from our hotel, moments before your check-in, a news that was widely acknowledge by our other guest and yourself. This incident caused a disruption in the wiring system, resulting in a power supply interruption and causing the elevator to restart while our generator turned on, thereby delaying its use.The air conditioning in your room was in perfect working order. Our policy dictates that air conditioners are activated upon guest check-in. It is entirely reasonable that your room was at room temperature upon your arrival.Despite not receiving any complaints or concerns from you, we extended a complimentary breakfast to your entire group, which appeared to satisfy everyone, including yourself. It was observed that all members of your group seemed content and understanding of the situation, which was beyond our control.You request for a 50% discount on your total bill came three days after your check-in when you ask our front desk personnel what was the balance on your bill, while your request for a 50% discount was not granted, we extended a 20% good will discount on your stay, regrettably, this offer was declined by you and your family members. Additionally, we offered to cancel the remaining nights of your stay without penalty and provided complimentary transportation to transfer you and your famility to the next hotel. We find it unfortunate that your review does not accurately reflect the situation, and we question the intentions behind it. As a Belizean visting from abroad I wanted to stay somewhere that was convenient to everything in the city. Golden Bay the staff were professional and friendly the rooms were clean and the restaurant was amazing the food was amazing staff at the restaurant were also professional and frear service. The staff at hotel were courteous and attending. We had made a reservation for an ocean view room but the room we checked in was against construction work. Upon protest they changed our room to a better one. The restaurant at the 5th floor has good quality food but comparative more expensive than the local restaurants. The shop and grocery store at first level sells mainly Chinese goods and products. Not sure why but almost nothing is available at the store. Even cookies and all food products are for Chinese nationals at very high prices. Although the neighborhood is relatively safe there is absolutely nothing to see there. A total ghost town and dead. One of the biggest turn downs is that the rood deck is closed for maintenance and repair but the hotel advertises it as being operational which is actually false advertising. I know that Wally will write back with apologies but this is not going to change our opinion. On the day we checked out, their shuttle was not available to take us to the airport. Instead the receptionist called a private person who showed up with a very old broken vehicle that had no air conditioning but charged us the full price. We had no choice than taking it in that high heath not to miss out flight. In summary, we have mixed feeling about this hotel. Their price is on the high side but the rooms are very clean and room service is very good. There are less points that I explained them in details. Overall we have mixed

Property undergoing construction and addition. Area a bit messy despite located right by the water and close to many local restaurants. The hotel itself seems dated in its decor. But the staff was friendly. The restaurant seems nice but only had breakfast, which was complimentary. Less against the hotel but there just not much to do in Belize City. Next time, go directly to the intended destination rather than spending the night.

Nice hotel. Lots of construction currently (the rooftop patio was unavailable, and they are expanding and building a pool, which is great, but our view to the ocean was greatly obstructed by consruction). Excellent service and clean room.

I liked the bed and the room is spacious and nice. HOWEVER, it was not easy to get to sleep early for our morning excursion because of the construction outside our window and noise from the restaurant directly above us. I attempted to change my room with the front desk within an hour of being checked in and they said they couldn’t accomadate my room switch. Other hotel cons: No band aids No pool No swimmable ocean anywhere around Cold shower water first night stay then was uncontrollably hot after they fixed the issue.

I scheduled the wrong day. The front desk caught my mistake and without any hassle, they changed my reservation for me. They did not have the room that I booked available, but they gave me an upgraded room at the same price I booked. They went out of their way to fix an error that I made. GREAT customer service!!!!

This was our second stay at Golden Bay. It definitely won’t be our last. The room we stayed in was so nice that I had to go back to the front desk to make sure they hadn’t made a mistake. I travel quite frequently and this was by far the nicest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in. Epic sunrise view over the ocean. Great from desk staff. Polite and courteous cleaning staff. This will be our go to hotel on all future trips to Belize City.
