Bath Abbey showing street scenes, a city and a church or cathedral
Rejuvenate the body at historic and modern spas, stroll down chic shopping streets, browse superb museum exhibitions and attend performing arts events for all ages.

Bath City Centre is full of architecturally impressive streets and alleys framed by the meandering River Avon. This is the lively heart of a city that has been attracting tourists ever since the Romans arrived in A.D. 44. Visit Bath City Centre to discover a fascinating collection of boutiques, galleries, museums, theatres and wellbeing centers.

Begin your tour at the Roman Baths, the place where the Romans established the city. Relax in the therapeutic waters of The Cross Bath and the modern Thermae Bath Spa.

Bath is famous for its majestic landmarks, including Bath Abbey, among England’s finest Gothic churches. Victoria Art Gallery features masterpieces by British and European artists.

Shoppers delight in the independent traders and brand-name outlets that line Milsom, Stall and Union streets. Find over 50 retails at SouthGate Bath and bookstores, confectioners and delicatessens at Bath Guildhall Market. Try one of the famous semi-sweet bread bun from Sally Lunn’s, housed in one of Bath’s oldest houses.

Marvel at Bath’s Georgian cityscape at the resplendent Royal Crescent and The Circus. Some of the city’s best museums are just a short walk from here. See fine art at No. 1 Royal Crescent and a wonderful collection of Asian objects at The Museum of East Asian Art. The Jane Austen Centre and Fashion Museum Bath are also worth visiting.

Enjoy the natural side of the city at Royal Victoria Park, which has a boating lake, playgrounds and the Botanical Gardens. The Georgian Garden is a stylish late-18th century geometric garden. Have fun with the family at Victoria Falls Adventure Golf. Set up a riverside picnic at Parade Gardens.

A range of entertainment venues compliment the city’s ancient history. Comedies, dramas and musicals take place at The Mission Theatre and Theatre Royal. The Chapel Arts Centre has burlesque and cabaret shows and the Egg Theatre puts on child-friendly performances.

With pedestrian-only streets and closely grouped attractions, Bath City Centre is great to explore on foot. Bath Spa train station sits at the southern edge of the district.
