We arrived and the hosts were very helpful, the room was very clean and we understand the breakfast is really good, but due to us having to catch an early ferry we missed it.

We had a great stay there. The property is charming and the hosts are lobely and welcoming. The home-made cakes and waffles at breakfast were a must!

Bruno and Fabienne were excellent hosts. We were greeted warmly upon our arrival and given a tour of the property and provided with restaurant recommendations. Breakfast was prepared and served by Fabienne and featured pastries from the local boulangerie. Ample free parking and east access to the local area. Well situated for car touring of Mt. Ste. Michel, St. Malo and the D Day beaches. A real gem of a guesthouse.

We had a great stay at Le Clos de la Barre. Fabienne and Bruno were excellent hosts and took the time to ensure that myself and two friends were well accomodated in the loft rooms. The accomodation was extrememly well presented and in good order. Bruno and Fabienne checked that all was ok and were more than pleasant and happy to help at all times. We really enjoyed our visit and would certainly stay again. This is the ideal location for visiting the beaches and museums nearby. We will be back!

oh this is the most perfect place if you are doing Normandy because of your host Alain! The property was wonderful - cozy rooms, nice breakfast, but Alain was the crown jewel. We only had 1/5 days and just a vague idea of what to do....Alain created an itinerary for us to maximize our sites and highlighted all the best museums to go to. He gave us a map and we were off for a 12 hour day that was perfect! I would go back here in a minute just to have him plan 2-3 more days for me

This Bed and Breakfast was a great base to explore the Normandy area. My only regret is not having more days to spend here. Alain, the owner, is a gracious host, extremely knowledgeable about the area and sights. Alain had reached out to us before we arrived to understand our interests. Both days he provided us recommended itineraries and suggestions to make the most of our limited time. The location in Basly is central to many amazing sights, from William the Conqueror (Bayeux Tapestry) to World War 2 D-day. Rooms were clean and comfortable, with wifi available.

Friendly and relaxing place to stay
The chambre d'hote is in a tiny village (no shop or bar), and it is peaceful and typically French. Alan is a very friendly host with lots of interesting information about the area. Very informal and relaxed.

What a lovely experience! This BnB is out of the way in a beautiful area in Normandy. Alain was an excellent host who helped us plan our visit to the WWII sites, including a map with the driving route and plan to make the best use of our short time. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful: fresh croissants, baguettes, homemade jam, yogurt, cereal, juice, coffee...all at an impeccably set table that we shared with the other guests. We had wonderful conversation and food. Our bedroom was comfortable and clean with a private bathroom. The bathroom door is glass so be sure to be familiar with your roommate. Our room included some thoughtful extras like bathrobes, too. We would have like to have stayed more than one night.

Very nice hotel with an excellent, helpful host who speaks perfect English. The hotel is in a small village. Nice and quiet but be warned, the nearest restaurant/cafe is not in walking distance! Great location for visiting the D Day beaches and Bayeux.

Good central location for the Normandy Coast
Very clean and comfortable room. Great shower! Alain, the owner, was most gracious and welcoming. He even gave us a map where he highlighted « must see » sights in the region. He has very good knowledge of D-Day events and sights. Recommended!

The gem in In the heart of Normandy
We were traveling with our 3 children. It was our 6th hotel during this trip. By far the nicest experience we had. The B&B was charming, well kept, and very user friendly for the family of 5. Quiet and clean. The owner was very kind, knowledgeable and very helpful- new a lot about area and the history- provided the guides and the maps for us to use. We would definitely stay there again!

Central location for battle field tours
Fantastic calm quiet base camp in Normandy. The owners we're welcoming and knowledgeable about all areas of the coast. Fluent in English and helpful to a fault. Easy access to beaches and cemeteries. Easy access parking and a Boulanger around the corner.

Merveilleux séjour
Un merveilleux séjour (2 nuits) passé en famille. Je ne suis pas un habitué des chambres d'hôtes mais je reviendrai ici. L'endroit est absolument parfait (joli, propre, on s'y sent bien) et nos hôtes sont d'une incroyable gentillesse et très disponibles. Merci donc pour la qualité de votre accueil, les bons moments passés, les conseils de visite et de restauration, l'attention portée à notre bien-être et pour le copieux petit déjeuné maison... Parfait !!!

Fabienne en Bruno zijn supervriendelijke uitbaters. Ze verzorgen hun B&B tot in de puntjes. Het ontbijt is heel vers en lekker. Ze geven veel info over de streek.

A faire les yeux fermés
Excellententissime!!! La maison Excellente La chambre Excellente L atout majeur de cette chambre d hôte étant ses propriétaires disponibles et aux petits soins, que du bonheur. On devait y passer 1 nuit du coup on est resté 2...et on reviendra promis juste pour boire le jus de fruits du petit déjeuner. Encore merci pour tout. Nataly et Philippe.

Chambres au calme, petits déjeuners copieux
Des hôtes charmants, agréables et attentionnés, des chambres confortables et très bien insonorisées ( nous étions dans "la Royale" à la surface très généreuse), des petits déjeuners copieux : Monsieur fait tous les matins de vrais jus de fruits frais, et Madame nous sert ses confitures maison. Basly est un petit village, pas loin de Courseulles ( une jolie station en bord de mer), et à 10mn en voiture de Caen et de ses restaurants. C'est réellement une adresse à recommander, et nous y reviendrons avec plaisir. Didier et Dolores.

B&B très agréable dans un petit village normand.
Superbe accueil. L’hôte est de très bon conseil pour les visites liées au débarquement en Normandie. Nous avons passé un très bon séjour, très agréable. La chambre est spacieuse avec une grande salle de bain. Le site est proche des plages du débarquement. Je recommande vivement.

Schöne Unterkunft mit hilfsbereiten Gastgebern
Wir haben uns hier von Beginn an sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber und die Gastgeber sehr, sehr hilfsbereit und gaben viele Tipps. Die Landungsstrände sind sehr nah und die schöne Stadt Bayeux. Wir hatten hier interessante und vielseitige Tage verbracht. Das Frühstück mit selbst gemachter Marmelade und Kuchen war sehr lecker.

Parfait sur toute la ligne.
Accueil super chaleureux. Chambres magnifiques, bien décorées et très spacieuses. Super petit déjeuner dans une bonne ambiance. Le Clos de la Barre est magnifiquement situé pour visiter les plages du débarquement, les musées et la ville de Caen. Merci encore à nos hôtes.

Godt udgangspunkt for tur til Normadiet
Godt Bed and Breakfast. Kanon hyggelig og rar gammeldags fransk krofatter (absolut positiv ment) god som turplanlægger og har mange ideer til steder man skal se (eller holde sig fra) Lækker morgenmad. TV kun i "loungen" ;-) Wifi virkede ikke, der er ringe mobil dækning i området. Sengene kunne godt være bedre. men lyst og stort værelse. Der er intet at se i byen ingen restauranter i byen men masser hvis man kører 4 - 5 km i bil, Værten anbefalede gerne ud fra vores ønsker. Stedet kan varmt anbefales, ligger i dejlig afstand fra "turistfælderne" og alligevel centralt hvis man gerne vil køre lidt
