Antalya City Centre

Antalya
Clock Tower showing heritage architecture
Central Antalya offers everything from pretty Ottoman architecture and lively bazaars to performing arts venues, beaches, boat trips and waterfront parks.

The classical charm and contemporary chic of one of Turkey’s most-loved Mediterranean resorts comes to life in Antalya City Center. Wander the streets of an old district famed for its architectural grandeur and superb shopping. Catch music and theatrical shows and visit stylish malls. Get a glimpse of the coastal delights of the Turquoise Coast at the city beach and marina.

Well-preserved Ottoman buildings frame the winding lanes of Antalya Old Town and transport you to a bygone era. Visit the 13th-century Alaaddin Mosque, 18th-century Tekeli Mehmet Pasa Mosque and ruined school buildings of Karatay Medresesi. Spectacular views of the harbor and Antalya Bay are on offer at the Kaleici Panoramic Elevator. Browse collections of antique toys at the Antalya Toy Museum.

Go shopping for ceramics, clothing, leather bags, spices and Turkish delight in the Old Bazaar. Coffeehouses, ice cream parlors, kebab joints, pubs and various stores line the streets. For a modern retail experience, MarkAntalya Shopping Mall has brandname outlets, a food court and cinema. Purchase tickets for events at the Antalya State Theater and Antalya State Opera and Ballet.

Stroll along Ataturk Boulevard to the triumphal Hadrian’s Gate, built to celebrate the arrival of Roman emperor Hadrian almost 2,000 years ago. Continue on the boulevard to the Ataturk House and Museum. This is a replica of a former home of Turkish War of Independence leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. It has displays of period furniture and photos and personal artifacts of Ataturk.

More magnificent bay and coastal views await from the clifftop terraces of Karaalioğlu Park. Walk beneath the shade of trees to Hidirlik Tower, a Roman-built landmark that has served as fortification and lighthouse. Bring your swimming gear and bathe in the clean waters of Mermerli Beach. Cafés and restaurants overlook Old City Marina, from where boats depart on tours of gorgeous Mediterranean beaches.

Antalya City Center is a great area to explore by foot. Pedestrian-only Sarampol Street connects the downtown district with the old town.
