Center for Puppetry Arts showing interior views
Come and discover the arts and entertainment hub of the southeast, a central Atlanta neighborhood like no other.

See cultural shows, browse museums and galleries, enjoy the street food, dine out in charming restaurants and enjoy some quiet time in nature when you visit Midtown, Atlanta. It’s a bustling, trendy place where you can mingle with the more outgoing locals and enjoy the Southern hospitality.

Midtown sits immediately north of Downtown and officially encompasses Historic Midtown, the business and arts district along Peachtree Street, as well as the residential area east of Piedmont Avenue and to the south of the sprawling Piedmont Park, Atlanta’s sprawling “backyard.”

Tree-lined streets with sidewalks and well-connected bike lines make getting around very easy. You can also rent a Segway or use the city’s bike-share system, or hop on free circular shuttle buses to see all the highlights at a faster pace. The Tech Trolley does a loop from the Midtown MARTA Station, while the Atlantic Station shuttle starts and ends at the Arts Center Station. There are 4 MARTA stations within Midtown itself and the Amtrak station is located on the northern border of Midtown.

If you are into art, design and fashion, browse the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) and visit the smaller galleries and high-end boutiques along Peachtree Street.

Midtown also famously features the Woodruff Arts Center, which includes the Alliance Theatreand the High Museum of Art.This is one of the largest arts campuses in the U.S. and the home of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. You can also see a play or show at the Fox Theatre, 14th Street Playhouse, Broadway in Atlanta or Center for Puppetry Arts, among other Midtown venues.

Tour the Margaret Mitchell House, where the author of Gone With the Wind used to live.

Or, to escape to nature for a while, stroll through Piedmont Park and the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. When the native flowering dogwood trees are in bloom, in early April, Piedmont Park becomes the location of the Atlanta Dogwood Festival. Other huge community events in Midtown are the annual Music Midtown and Atlanta Pride festivals.

Midtown is nicknamed “Atlanta’s Heart of the Arts” and if you are a culture vulture or simply love art, you won’t be bored here for one minute.
