A fab find for a quick stay
We stayed at the Highdown for two nights while attending a wedding. The staff couldn't have been friendlier. From us arriving at 22:45 to check in after getting stuck driving down, to offering to cook me an early breakfast as I had to be at the bride's house for 07:30 the same time breakfast started. The room was very clean and super quiet. We couldn't recommend it enough

The property was lovely, the room was excellent, very well decorated and the bathroom was very spacious. The food in the pub was average. The breakfast was excellent. The only real negative was the smell from the cesspit which was overpowering, we could even smell it in the room.

The setting of Highdown, is impressive. The seemingly refurbished rooms are superb and beautifully appointed.The public spaces are very attractive, warm and inviting. The staff are pleasant, professional and efficient. In all honesty we cannot think of anything negative to say about Highdown as our stay was very enjoyable. As we intend returning later in the year to this area, the fact that the Highdown hotel is dog friendly, will almost certainly mean us visiting again.

Had a truly wonderful stay. Was catered for fantastically as was my dog. The location is great with Highdown hill to walk on just behind. Food was fantastic - really lovely menu. Hope to visit again!

Surprising little Gem
Wonderful place for midweek break, Covid19 safe, great service, felt very comfortable in every aspect. Food is quality.... Super (huge),breakfast. Cannot fault, look forward to next visit.

One of the BEST!!
WOW!!! What a stunning place to stay, staff were super attentive and made me feel right at home. Lovely room with the most comfortable bed 😴 and the food was extra special. Will definitely be coming here again.

Lovely overnight stay.
Really lovely property with immediate access to teh Downs. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Our room was both spacious and comfortable.We had dinner and the food was really good too. All in all a very enjoyable stay.and great value for money.

We stayed there for an evening away and were blown away by the this hotel. The rooms were lovely, food brilliant but more importantly the staff were amazing. Can't wait to go back

Lovely comfortable, dog-friendly accommodation. Some nice walks nearby. Property was in really good condition and well kept. Loved the L'Occitane toiletries and the carafe of whisky in the guest lounge was a really nice touch.

Excellent accommodation, the rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and well appointed. The restaurant offers a wide range of well presented food and drink which I would highly recommend. Unfortunately, there seems a lack of staff so had to wait to book in, meals and even checking out. You have a fantastic venue but need to revisit the staffing.

The restaurant served delicious meals at dinner and breakfast times. Quality and choice of wines and beers were very good. Our room was immaculate and had everything we needed except a super king-sized bed, but that was us being greedy!

For some reason we ended up with a suite which made this a very special stay and excellent value. Loads of room, large and very comfy bed, magnificent bathroom, pleasant views from the windows. Easy to find and plentiful parking. Beautifully quiet at night and good coffee/tea etc facilities. We didn't dine in or take breakfast but it's good those options are there.

This hotel is beautiful the rooms have everything needed and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. The bathroom is beautiful and filled with shampoo conditioner and shower gel. Plenty of towels and shower easy to use. The food here is so lovely both at breakfast and evening meal. Overall a lovely stay.

We booked a last minute room at Highdown for a couple of days away and were so impressed with every aspect of our stay. The room was stunning with a lovely en suite shower room and most importantly, it was as comfortable as it was beautiful! We both had a brilliant night’s sleep and the shower was excellent. The room came fully equipped with everything you could want and nothing was too much trouble for the staff there. We were provided with the usual facilities - tea and coffee making, water, hairdryer - but there was also biscuits available as well as information about local walks and sights to see. The rooms themselves are in a separate building to the tea rooms and pub/restaurant which gave a sense of privacy and quiet but are still very close by should you need anything. The hotel itself had ample parking and is situated in beautiful grounds that we wished we’d had the chance to make more use of! We really were so impressed with Highdown and will no doubt be booking in again if we are in the area.

An amazing hotel in a wonderful setting. The Highdown staff were friendly, enthusiastic and very accommodating, from check-in to check-out 2 days later. Breakfast in the dining room was from a fantastic selection on the menu, and dinner in the bar area was from an equally varied menu. The room was spacious, comfortable and luxurious, well presented and very clean. I would happily come here again.

Brilliant weekend away
Great place to stay. Gateway to Downs and lovely gardens to stroll around. Booking in was a littke delayed due to the bar being busy, however once booked in everything was perfect. We booked a room with roll top bath and separate shower which was so lovely. The room was spacious and comfortable. The weather was exceptionally hot, although no air conditioning there was a fan in the room. The service at dinner was excellent. Very friendly and helfull staff. There is a good selection to choose from at breakfast. Just one negative (sorry)... pets are allowed and due to dogs outside in the eating area meant we ate inside. We also noticed barstaff petting a dog... hope they washed hands before serving food & drink! Even though there is a small negative we would return.
