Please have a read of this review as I am not usually someone to complain. My wife and I are travellers and we stay in budget hotels/hostels all the time. We pay cheap and expect the worst. Damp, mouldy walls, cold showers ( if they even work) dusty, small old and tired rooms etc. That comes with the territory of cheap rooms whilst travelling (especially in Asia). We are completely fine with this and have never had an issue.
This guesthouse is something else. We wish we had read the reviews on here before we stayed. When we were lying in the bed (at 4pm in room 203) and we saw a bed bug crawl in between us. We then lifted the duvet and looked underneath and the bed was literally crawling with bugs. They were literally everywhere.
We went down to reception and he just offered us another room (room 101) which we have seen on reviews after this incident has also had bed bugs in it. We said no to him and asked for a refund. He would not give us one because we had booked through hotels.com and it was the day of booking. I told them that they will still get paid and that we wanted a refund to go to another hotel. He told us that we had to wait for his boss who was at the market and would be an hour. We said this was not good enough and so he called and said 20 minutes. 50 minutes later she walked in and would not give us a refund and just laughed at us. This was not a language barrier. She didn’t look surprised at the bed bugs (neither did the first guy). They just laughed.
