If you're planning a trip to Israel and not sure which places you want to visit, Tel Aviv is a good place to mark on your traveling map. The city of Tel Aviv is located on the northwest coast of Israel and is known as "The White City" due to the style of architecture and the color of most of its buildings. Other names it has been given are “The City That Never Sleeps,” because of its constant buzz of activity and nightlife, and “The Big Orange,” a nickname, which was adopted by the locals. One of the best tourist attractions in Tel Aviv is the Tel Aviv Museum Of Art in the downtown section of the city. This museum features many original works of art from the contemporary period and artists such as Van Gogh, Picasso, Ernst, and many others. It also has a famous Moby Dick exhibition bringing to life the story of the renowned whale. The museum also hosts concerts you may be interested in attending. The Port of Jaffa is a local beach and port to include in your Tel Aviv activities. This port was key in the ancient days of Mediterranean trade in this region, and today there are many little landmarks in this port representative of Israel's history from the ancient world to the modern conflict with the Arab world. This is a nice place to visit to get away from the over-crowded streets of the city making it a must see.
Other Tel Aviv tours you may plan on taking could include the David Ben-Gurion Museum, the Nahum Goldmann Museum of the Jewish Diaspora, or you may just want to hang out in the Caramel Market or the Herbert Samuel Esplanade. Whichever place you wish to visit, the Big Orange will prove to be worth it all.
