Stayed here for 2 nights in one of the small rooms, 203, during March, 2024 while skiing Taos. This particular room had a queen-size bed, which was comfortable. The rooms are traditional. Only complaint was the toilet was not completely stable and when sitting on it and arising, it made a "bang" that may have bothered the occupants of the adjacent room. I enjoyed the restaurant. Food seemed to be typical of Taos. Had the Chile Rellenos w green Chile the first night - plenty hot/spicy. Had a shrimp pasta the second. Both good. Margaritas were excellent. Service was somewhat slow, but very competent - the wait staff was very busy. The nightly bar entertainment (music) was interesting, although I sat in restaurant rather than the bar. The crowd in the bar seemed to be enjoying the music as I passed through. Despite the fact that the hotel is old, I noted a young woman (I believe the hotel desk clerk) cleaning the furniture in the lobby early in the day. My room was clean and orderly. The room had a fireplace (with wood, starting material and matches) that I did not use. The hotel is about a 20-25 minute drive to Taos mountain (I was there during the largest snow of the year) and was happy I had a 4-wheel drive auto. Enjoyed reading about Doc Martin (hotel was his home/office) and viewing the historical photos in the restaurant. All in all it was an enjoyable visit and I would stay there again, perhaps in one of their larger rooms.
