4/10 Poor

Liked: Cleanliness
Disliked: Staff & service
The bed was fine. The location was good. Now for the bad parts. 1. The coffee boiler was small (only about 500 cc) and took an incredible 10 minutes to boil that small amount of water. It has to be the cheapest model on the market. 2. No coffee cup. 3. Terrible wifi in the room. There were periods when I couldn’t watch YouTube videos because the wifi was too slow. 4. An intercom system with speakers in the room so that the management could call staff. While resting in my room in the late morning, the intercom blared loudly multiple times. There was a sign stating that guests weren’t in general supposed to be in their rooms between 10:00 and 16:00 and the use of the intercom reinforced that mentality. 5. Poor selection of food for breakfast. 6. The layout of the food tables was so appalling that it took me more than 15 minutes just to get my food, forget about eating it. The only consideration in the breakfast setup was for the convenience of the staff in putting out the food. A child could have designed a better layout for the food tables. The overall feeling was that the hotel is run for the convenience of management and staff and the customers are simply cattle to be processed through their system. I’ve stayed at many business hotels in Japan nearly all with better experiences. For a major brand, this hotel is appalling.
Beds and pillows were rock hard, which is fairly typical of budget Japanese hotels. The big problems were their policies that we had to leave our room key with the front desk every time we left the hotel, and we were not allowed in our room from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm every day, which was very inconvenient when we were out walking around the city and wanted to stop by to drop things off or change clothes. We will never stay at a Toyoko-inn again because of these policies.
Typical tiny Japanese business hotel. New and tidy. Clean and relatively quiet. No view but next building, average (very busy) breakfast and strict 4:00pm check in time is far too late. Thankfully we were allowed to leave luggage whilst waiting. Not as close to train station as we believed resulting in a long bag drag. A good stay but would consider other options next time
Nice staff, hotel close to station. I made a separate booking, to stay two nights, to avoid me changing room, they arranged me to stay at Family room, thx
This hotel is old but clean. The staff are accommodating and polite.
The room is smaller than I thought. The way from the JR station to the hotel is steep uphill 300 to 400 meters. If you have big luggage, please consider this. The nearest subway takes a ten-minute walk.
