Really liked the buffet option, but wish it had a little more options for the food. The pool staff were awesome funny and entertaining! The ladies at front desk were awful, need a bit more costumer service training in my opinion.

Disappointed in the customer service at this location. Check in staff was hit or miss but most were visibly annoyed and incapable of providing customer service without an undertone irritation. Was willing to look past this and other issues such as very loud construction going on during our stay because that's trivial to the location. But at this point im at a loss and unwilling to reccomend this location to anyone as the staff is unhelpful in retrieving a package that was delivered there and that some how can no longer be located . I've reached out to staff and all I get is " we have no information" yet someone signed for the package. There is an obvious lack in management or customer service . I understand that the issue is a rare occurrence but I can assure you that other companies have been able to help much more in worse situations. I had previously spoken to the person who makes reservations about this packages arrival and she assured me she would help and notify me when it arrived. And now magically no one knows anything, no one can help, countless phone calls from me and the carrier with nothing to show for it except unhelpful responses. I am disappointed to know that I saw past issues during our stay there because I hoped to give this place grace only to be met with the difficult decision of leaving a review based on an ongoing experience with staff and management if any. If you are looking to stay in NV and this is the place you landed, be aware of its flaws.

Beautiful location and well maintained. Food and service were decent. Solid four star hotel, that has the potential to be an 4.5 or even 5 star with the right updates. Customer service all around was good but opportunity to be elevated. For example, the Royal benefits were lacking. We were bothered that there was no policing of people utilizing the VIP Royal space. Hotel should do a better job of ensuring those that pay for that benefit (ie pool, hot tub, space at the beach) are able to exclusively use it versus the free for all that occurred during our stay. Also the check-in associates need to take a customer service 101 course. That is your first point of contact with your guests, and the Occidental staff at check-in did not seem pleasant or welcoming. Guests were treated more as an inconvenience. Many of the waitstaff and bartenders were pleasant. Had a nice time. For the right price may go back. Just wish they would fix a few of these issues and elevate their customer service.

If you want to get away for the crowded side of Puerto Vallarta, this area is great. It’s about 25 min away from the Puerto Vallarta side but the beaches are better and quieter. The dining was great plenty of options, I recommend the Italian restaurant it was my favorite. The all-inclusive service was plenty, our room was cleaned and stocked daily with fresh items. The staff was friendly, and more than accommodating. The spa was ok little overpriced for its services. The lights in our room were on a timer and we had very limited and mixed use of them. They wouldn’t work when you needed them. Besides that everything was good.

Overall enjoyed my stay at the occidental! Had some amazing staff members like Julio L & Milton G, they went above and beyond, always friendly! Most of the staff are friendly but they really stood out to us! There were always lots of outdoor entertainment going on, drinks & food were good! We especially loved the Tokyo restaurant and HIGHLY recommend booking a reservation for hibachi there as well as it was DELICIOUS and so fun! The cons we experienced: The front desk staff could use some work, found them very standoff/rude, less friendly, and definitely did not go above and beyond to make our stay memorable or comfortable. We actually felt very uncomfortable out last day there with the front desk staff. Aswell and the bathrooms could use some attention, the small glass pane was barley holding on and almost fell down multiple times, and we also had to jimmy rig one of our shower hearts to make sure it wasn’t spraying Willy Billy Hopefully the front desk staff can learn some new customer service skills and the resort would be much better off! Overall a decent resort for price, it is a smaller resort, probably great for a low key family vacation. Not too much for kids activities on site, also not much for nightlife so it is pretty quiet, which made it relaxing
