Camelback East, AZ

Phoenix
Desert Botanical Garden showing a park
Centered on a huge park adorned with golf courses, a zoo and myriad landmarks, this large district is a serene, fun and enlightening destination.

Visit Camelback East, a district with numerous attractions and gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains. One of the 15 villages that come together to form Phoenix, it is an affluent area filled with art centers, gardens and parks. Relax in the various coffee shops and restaurants in a zone that mixes the serenity of the suburbs with the highlights on the edge of Phoenix.

Enjoy the spectacular terrain by practicing your swing on the courses of the Arizona Biltmore Country Club and the Papago Golf Course. Explore Papago Park, a large stretch of greenery with some of the area’s biggest attractions. Bring your kids to see the animals at the park’s Phoenix Zoo and see the pyramidal structure of the Governor Hunt Tomb.

Toward the northern end of the park is the Desert Botanical Garden, with its array of plants accustomed to arid conditions. Take a garden tour and admire the works in the temporary art exhibits.

For a change of scene, take a tour of the historic Tovrea Castle at Carraro Heights, which dates back to the 1920s. Enjoy fine dining in the elegant Wrigley Mansion.

Browse items for sale in the open-air Town and Country Shopping Center and choose from the upscale clothes in Biltmore Fashion Park. Watch one of the latest films in the AMC Esplanade 14, whose dine-in service allows you to combine cinema and restaurant experiences.

Camelback East district runs along the eastern corridor of Phoenix, with the town of Scottsdale skirting its eastern fringe. Arrive at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and travel by bus to one of the many stops in the zone. While in the city, make sure to explore some of the neighboring districts, such as Encanto, Central City and South Mountain.
