Nevada Beach is a popular recreational area on the southeastern corner of Lake Tahoe. Join the families and groups of friends that spend the day enjoying the picturesque setting, clean waters and soft golden sands. Have fun trying watersports, camp overnight and watch the lake’s annual 4th of July fireworks festival.
The beach’s powder-like sand sits between the glistening waters of Lake Tahoe and verdant alpine trees. Even during the height of summer there’s plenty of room to find a quiet spot. Set up your beach camp, breathe in the fresh air and gaze across the lake toward the soaring peaks of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Children will have hours off fun paddling along the shoreline and building sandcastles.
On warm and sun-soaked days the lake invites you to take refreshing swims. Add a touch of adventure into your beach day by cruising the water in a kayak or on a paddle board. If you need equipment, visit the rental shop located at the northern end of the beach.
Bring lunch and take advantage of the picnic benches, tables and pavilions. Barbecuing is permitted so feel free to cook your favorite grilled food. Alternatively, purchase drinks and snacks at the concession stand.
Lake Tahoe is famous for hosting one of the most spectacular Independence Day fireworks celebrations. Barges float out into the middle of the lake and launch a multicolored pyrotechnic display. The beach is among the best spots to watch this annual event. For a more intimate experience, schedule a ride on the M.S. Dixie II paddle wheeler, which departs from the Zephyr Cove Resort.
Consider spending the night at the Nevada Beach Campground. It features 51 campsites, restrooms, food storage boxes and potable water.
Located in the Zephyr Cove area, Nevada Beach is about 5 miles (8 kilometers) from the center of South Lake Tahoe. Daily fees are applicable for both the beach and campground, which are accessible from Memorial Day weekend until mid-October.
