The property was quiet and relaxing. The beach was beautiful. But the food and service were not on par with other Secrets resorts I have visited. I have been to Secrets Akumal and Secrets Cap Cana. Those resorts were more modern. The food was consistently good and the service was much better. I don't know that I would return to Secrets St. James.

It is a nice location. The ocean was beautiful but limited beach area. There are small areas but can't go on a long beach walk because of rock walls or security restrictions. Food was average. Long waits for dinner.

Location and views were great, staff were very friendly and helpful specially the manager Jason who helped us a lot, it was an excellent experience staying at Secret St. James and we will certainly go back there again. The only downside was the WiFi as i had to work through my stay and the connection was not very reliable!

Our stay was great! Everything was very smooth. We upgraded to the preferred side and had a pool dedicated just to that side which was nice if you didn’t want to be around the music from the other pool. Would definitely recommend and will be back!

Good hotel, nothing will blow you away but can’t go wrong at the right price. Jerk chicken truck was great, restaurant foods weren’t bad. Clean beach, wish it was a bit bigger

I liked my butler. But My rooms door was broken, The toilet didn’t work and there was no hot water. I had to bring it up to managements attention several times and I booked vip the best room in the resort.

The resort was very nice. We stayed at the preferred side with an ocean view, and the view was really beautiful. The preferred access also allowed us to visit the breathless hotel and rooftop bar, which was also stunning. The staff were friendly, some more than others. The food options were good- buffet style breakfast and lunch and some restaurants with a preset menu for lunch and dinner. The entertainment team did a good job and it was nice to have activities during the day and evening. Despite the recent US travel ban, we felt completely safe. We also went off the resort for an excursion and didn’t feel worried. You just need to exercise usual travel precautions such as being aware of your surroundings, not being too flashy, and arranging transportation with known people. All in all, we had a great time and would return.
