Just an awful place! Mould in the bathrooms! A red hot pipe running alongside one of the beds! Holes in the filthy curtains! Avoid this place! I wish we had!

This hotel was run very well. Staff were very helpful and kept the place very clean. The 6 pound breakfast was a great option. Very close to Paddington station so easy to get around

we arrive late due to a flight delay, our room was given to other guest, we were relocated on another property but the first night the room was not what we have pay for. They gave away our room eventhough we pay in advance for it. Besides that the hotel area was convenient near to paddington metro stop.

You can hear the upstairs room very loudly, you can hear the tube pass every 15 minutes , you can hear the toilet flush from the room above

A poor night's sleep
Frequently disturbed by noise (mostly from the bass rumble of underground trains, but rooms also not v well sound-proofed). Double-glazing on the window would remedy most of this.

Great location
The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. There was noise from the tube trains but this didn’t bother me. Impressed by the touches such as usb sockets and fridge, tea and coffee. This is a hotel where if you look for problems you will find them, if you look for all the essentials you should have in a hotel stay, you are all set.

They were accommodating to my wife's issue with stairs and we were placed on the first floor so it made it slightly easier on her knees. However we contacted the hotel ahead of time about mould concerns. They assured us that the room would be checked and treated for mould. When we checked in the room was small but clean. There was mould allergy around the ceiling of the bathroom and around the shower. My wife was sick our entire stay sadly from allergies. I am not sure what made our room a superior double room. I would hate to see the size of a standard double room. A superior double room could barely hold 2 suitcases. It's great for an individual traveling or short stays. The staff were friendly. Overall the room is great for students and light travelers on short stays who don't have concerns about mould. Low rating due to mould after we notified them weeks ahead of our stay that we had someone with an allergy. If no mould was there we would have done 4.5 stars honestly.

It was close to Paddington Station and surrounding area. First morning we had no hot water for shower but reported it to the desk and it was sorted by afternoon. Pleasant staff but the building itself is a bit tired. However the proximity made up for that as it was very affordable with pleasant staff.

Nice hotel, nice room. Floors a bit creaky so can hear people walking around a lot above you. Felt bad for rooms below us when we would be walking around.

Pleasant stay
We stayed for 1 night at the Dolphin hotel and they transferred us to Shakspeare hotel because they were fully booked. Shakespeare hotel was very comfortable and the staff made our short stay very pleasant. I needed a document printed for my embassy errand and the receptionist at the disk kindly printed it for me. I would book this hotel again and highly recommend it.

The location was convenient for getting around, but there was alot of street noise as well as some loud people in the park area. The hotel was clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The room could use some updating.

Disappointed overall
Room could certainly do with a coat of paint. We were also contacted by reception to complain about the noise from our toilet extraction fan! The fan comes on when the toilet light comes on but somehow we were supposed to make this quieter 🤔. Most disappointing however was the two items we left behind after checkout that mysteriously disappeared less than 2 hours later. We phoned the hotel back after less than 2 hours of checking out but the items had vanished into thin air. Granted we should not have left the items behind…..

Ideal for Paddington Station and Hyde Park - the reception staff were very helpful - you can hear a bit of noise from the Tube but his is expected ... would stay again.

Very beautiful hotel, just like in the pictures. As others noted, if you are a light sleeper, you can feel/ hear the trains underground until close to midnight. Bathrooms could be better, but again, these are old buildings. Love the decor and feel. Staff excellent. Shops and restaurants galore. No AC if you come in the middle of a heat wave, but otherwise ok. Few places in London have AC

Staff are friendly and helpful, check-in and check-out was easy. Location is perfect for access to Station and Express to Heathrow. Plenty of food and shopping options nearby, and walkable to many landmarks if you dont mind a bit of walking. The room and sheets were clean, except for the used band-aid hanging from the bunk. We knew all about the room and style/size etc. from the descriptions and reviews provided, so I won't comment further here, however I will add that if going in Summer, beware that there is no Air-Conditioning (which was probably overlooked by me when booking), which made the warm nights a bit uncomfortable with 5 in the room, and the windows barely open to get ventillation, and the fan doesnt help much. We stayed on the top floor, knowing it would be a challenge with the suitcases and 3 kids, so just beware of the narrow staircases and many of them. Would stay again.
