Small private Island on scenic Maine pond with charming authentic log cabin.

Authentic log cabin selected by the state of Maine for use in their winter activity advertising campaign in 2019. It is located on a private island on North Pond in Woodstock, Maine just south of the quaint mountain village of Bethel. The log cabin was built by Stanley Foss Bartlett around the mid 30's He was a poet and author of Maine woods stories. He had three books published which can be bought on the internet. This island is perfect for vacationers that want to be off the grid without electricity, but not too far! A dock and two parking spaces are provided on the mainland and a dock for access to the island. This pond is connected to both Round Pond and South Pond. These ponds are ideal for kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, peddle boating, water skiing and fishing. Pretty spots on the Island for sunbathing and a place for swimming. The cabin has two twin day beds on the lower level and two twin size beds in the loft that in total sleeps four. The fully equipped kitchenette with a propane stove and a sink for light clean up. A gas grill and picnic table make for easy summer living. An old fashion outhouse is located on the island which is down a path from the cabin. In keeping with the island theme, it is complete with a halfmoon door. For those who need to occasionally connect to the rest of the world there is a solar USB charger for your cell phone and computer. Pillows and comforters and light weight blankets are provided and the renter will bring sheets and pillow cases for twin size beds. Titian camping chest with food trey that can keep ice up to 8 days is provided along with 4 blocks of ice to start you off. Spring water unit and 3 large bottles also provided. Darts, puzzles, cards, cribbage board, Monopoly, Clue, Sorry, Uno, Yahtzee, Candyland, Cootie, deck of cards, and a wooden tic tac are some of the games for your enjoyment.
Pair of binoculars and a flashlight in the kitchenett.
As requested, I purchased a very nice macromay hammock which will have a beautiful view down the lake. Great place for reading a book or just relaxing. Kitchen is supplied with all your cleaning needs for dishes ie. dish washing liquid, hand soap, bar soap, hand wipes, Comet cleaner for sink, Brillo pads for pots & pans and bottle lemon hand sanitizer. Also provided flex garbage bags for the large metal trash can located out in back of the cabin, packets of individual salt, pepper, and coffee, half and half creamers in small individuals containers that are kept in the cooler, napkins, paper towels, and toilet paper
There is a store on the same body of water which rents canoes and Kayaks.
The island has received 5 BONES on the BringFido web site. The island is a great place for your dog to have a vacation as well. Sniffing and swimming off-leash - what could be better? Ceramic dog dish is provided.
The eagles are back on the next island for the 7th year in a row. They are busy building and repairing their nest. Nothing like having an American Bald Eagle to wake you up most mornings with their distinctive cries. So blessed to have them as visitors to my island, almost daily.
Stay and enjoy a rustic experience with excursions to all adventures and activities that the western mountains of Maine have to offer. DO TO REQUEST TO RENT FOR LESS THEN A WEEK I AM OFFERING A MIIMUM STAY OF THREE DAYS AT 370.00 per day.
NEW ADDITION FOR THIS YEAR.....LIGHTS!!!
Bought a large wagon wheel type light for the living room late last summer that consists of 12 small LED lights with shades. Lights up the whole room with ease.
The fixture hangs from a beam in the middle of the room. It is charged by a Marine Battery that is hidden behind the couch. Electrician even installed a light switch on the wall as you go in. PRETTY NEAT!!!

EAGLE UP DATE FOR THIS SEASON.
Two baby eagle heads just popped up in the nest. Congratulations to the proud parents.

Dog-friendly get away
This was our second year back at Marie’s island cabin. It’s a favorite for our whole family, including our two dogs. Rain or shine, the cabin and island are a relaxing place to spend a few days. Swimming, paddling, playing board games or just sitting on the front porch with a good book - we can’t wait to go back next year.

Loved it!
Stayed at this beautiful cabin for a few days with my husband and sons. Marie was beyond lovely and so accommodating. The island is truly beautiful. We fished, boated around the lake, and just enjoyed our surroundings and quality time together. Watching the eagles fly overhead was truly a treat. We will definitely return!!!

This was an amazing and unique vacation for us with our two puppies! They were able to explore and learn to swim while off leash. The cabin has tons of character, is well stocked with everything one might need and is very cozy! Marie is such a wonderful host, was great with communication and always wanted to make sure we were comfy! We will be back!

Great place for a rustic getaway
We loved Marie's cabin on the island. We brought our kayaks and paddle board, and spent a long weekend paddling and swimming around the pond. There's a jumping rock a short paddle or swim from the island that our girls loved. The eagles nesting nearby were amazing - we saw them every day flying, hunting and even sitting in the tall trees above our cabin. Our two dogs came with us and the island was perfect for them. Space to sniff, snooze and swim. The cabin has all the basics you need and Marie is a wonderful host - she met us at the dock, showed us around, and stocked the cabin with lanterns, a cooler full of ice, beach towels and all the basics we needed for a few days. She leaves you with a flat bottom skiff that we used to get to/from where we parked our cars (spots for two cars) as well as to take a couple sunset cruises around the pond. If you like the idea of being off grid but not too far away from a grocery store or the ability to charge your phone, this is a great option.

Magical!
Love this place! Beautiful lake, cozy dark cabin, lots of history. Loons and bald eagle nearby. Marie was so friendly and helpful. We went for a swim around the islands and went hiking in New Hampshire. Drinking coffee by the lake in the morning is a treat.

Front porch with a view
A unique and ideal escape. We spent 4 days on the porch of our private island listening to the loons. The bald eagle from the neighboring island visited us each morning as we ate breakfast. There are obviously limited amenities, but if you're prepared to grill and read books with a view, it's amazing!

Lovely cabin, lovely host
What's not to love about an old rustic cabin on a private island? We brought our dog and she loved being able to run around the island off leash. The cabin was rustic, as expected, and perfect for relaxing. We spent a lot of time reading, playing games (there are a bunch in the cabin), swimming, and kayaking. The cabin is not too far from another small rock/island that is a popular swimming spot and frequented by boats, kayaks, and paddleboards on hot weekend days. There is also a bald eagle that visited the island early every morning. This is an almost 100 year old log cabin, so expect it to be rustic. It is fun to imagine what being in this cabin was like when it was built in the 1920s before there were all the cars on the road and powerboats on the lake. The cabin is quite dark and even though there are battery-powered lights, we also found it helpful to have our headlamps. Marie, the host, is the sweetest person and will make sure your stay is wonderful! She made sure we had everything we needed to have a great stay.

Wonderful stay and great Hostess
We stayed at the cabin for 4 nights. Marie was there to greet us upon arrival. The boat was ready for us to take to the island upon arrival. Marie joined us on our initial boat ride to give us the lay of the land when we got there. There is a 5 gallon water cooler there for fresh water and a special cooler with ice provided to keep you food cold for several days upon arrival. The cabin is cozy with 4 twin size beds, 2 on the first floor and two on the loft. The loft is difficult to access if you are an adult. Our kids didnt have any problems accessing it. The cabin doesnt have electric or plumbing so be prepared (bring solar phone chargers or other type devices to keep you phones/devices charged) Marie provides several battery operated lights throughout the cabin. You get GOOD cell phone reception there so it was easy to stay connected to friends/family to send them pics/videos of our stay. The kids enjoyed fishing and swimming everyday (and so did I). We caught several types of fish without leaving the island such as blue gill, perch, and bass so bring some bait/worms. We would take the boat on some late evening cruises to watch the Loons and Bald Eagles which was nice. The Loons just had two babies and the bald eagles have a juvenile with the nest on the neighboring island. We also went night fishing on the boat and caught a few white perch. We would have a small campfire during the evenings and watch the sunset. There is a small town nearby about 5 miles away (Bethel) that has a small grocery store and there is also a gas station (Big Apple) where you can pickup some bait to go fishing with right off Main Street. There is an outhouse on the island with the old fashioned half moon door. Marie was a great hostess! She was genuinely proactive about wanting us to have a great stay. She was readily available by phone if needed. It felt like she was our Mom for our short stay there. Thanks Marie for a great stay!!
