Of all our stays in Italy and Florence, staying at Glance was most regrettable. For the high cost, we expected much better service and a higher quality amenities. Upon arrival, expect a lengthy check-in. Next you will take a hot elevator the size of a coffin up to your room. You’ll enter a hot room. We immediately went up to the rooftop “pool” which is more like an oversized hot tub. Be sure to have sandals, the artificial decking will scorch your feet in the hot sun. The rooftop deck is surrounded by dead and dying plants — a nice touch. Enjoy the 5ft deep pool while you can — it will soon be filled with people. We took the coffin elevator down where upon exiting you’ll notice a homeless man, a fixture during our stay, along with his box of feces. Back up in the room, be prepared for towels and bed sheets that feel like sandpaper. Be sure to also set your room to do not disturb, as it was clear room service had entered the room multiple times while we were gone, unrequested. On our second night we were awoken at 2AM to a crowd of drunk and drugged guests screaming, yelling, vomiting, banging, knocking on doors and frightening our child. The commotion continued until we called the front desk, along with other guests, sharing our concerns. We were told police were called — the situation was out of the hotel’s control, which is frightening. After a few hours we were able to sleep. But our next day was ruined.
