We spent a few days at this beautiful home while visiting Acadia. As some reviews have stated, it is a bit of a drive to the park, but it's really not bad.
Do any shopping you need in Ellsworth before coming to the home. It's a long ride back to town if you need something.
The home itself is modern and the beds are comfortable. Two couples or a family would be very comfortable here. The kitchen has all the dishes and cookware you need, and there are a few basic pantry items available (salt, pepper, a few spices, etc.). There is a washer and dryer so you can get away with packing half of what you need if you're making an extended stay.
There are several gardens and a bench looking over the water. Being from the Midwest, it was fascinating to see how much the tide rises and falls in Maine. Keep in mind, there will be times that the waterfront becomes mud and rocks.
Other reviews mentioned a lack of curtains, and I did not see any in the living room. There were some in both bedrooms, but in the upstairs bedroom, there are little upper windows that do let in a lot of early morning light. Bring a sleep mask if this is a problem for you.
Check out is a bit early at 10am, and they do ask that you start dishes and laundry. This does help with keeping the cleaning costs, and therefore, rental costs down. I don't mind stripping down the beds and cleaning up after myself. After all, this is someone's home, not the Holiday Inn.
As other reviews stated, don't use the map feature in the Homeaway app. You'll end up looking at a grass road down by a trucking company. Set your GPS to the address. I had no issue using the in-car GPS or Waze to find my way after getting lost the first time.
Only small disappointment is that the kayaks in the pictures are not available. It's listed in the rental contract, so you need to take a look at that.
