"The property was not as advertised. The place appears a bit run-down and the rooms we stayed in had stained and partially broken toilet seats. We had to urgently make arrangements to secure alternative accommodation for our elderly mothers, which was extremely inconvenient. The hotel employee who was on duty was however very helpful and understanding, which we appreciated very well. He also contacted the hotel manager who was equally understanding and promised to process a refund for the room...

"They are currently shifting to the place across the street, so things are bit haphazard as they make the change. They did switch us to a different room when our key wasnt working. They also worked very hard to accomodate us in other ways. Overall good experience. "

"The Serena Hotel in Lake Kivu was lovely. We had a great room with a lake view. Since we traveled with a guide we did not use any of the extra guest services but we did take a boat ride out to the Nyamyumbo hot springs which was quite an experience. The opposite of a hotel spa! Staff were very pleasant and accommodating. I would recommend this hotel!"

"Thumbs up to the staff who were so helpful and courteous. If you're looking for an affordable, quiet and decent place to stay, i would definitely recommend staying here. The rooms have a bit of a safari feel to them; the floors can get cold, so i would suggest carrying/wearing slippers. Make sure to request one of the rooms in front of the pool, the view is lovely at night. Also if you're looking for a ride to get you around Kigali, ask for Alphonse. The washrooms are starting to age a bit, but...

"The place has great potential. A few things can be improved to make it better. The breakfast is basic, there is less things to eat each day. The food at restaurants is overcharged based on what you can find at nearby and better restaurants. Room are comfortable but amenities in room is lacking.. eg: there was only 2 hangers. Sanitary equipment is very old and outdated in bathrooms etc. The few improvements can give the place a better reputation and attract more customers. "
