Old Country Living<br>Ozello Keys 1 BR/1BA Waterfront Fishing Cabin

This furnished 1 bedroom/1bath home sits on a canal that leads straight to the St. Martins River with easy access to the Gulf plus Homosassa Springs and Crystal River Springs without all the boat traffic of those areas. Great access to snorkeling, fishing, and scalloping.

Enjoy the scenery from the screened Sailors Rest/Tiki Bar located on the property that includes a refrigerator and seating for several friends. This is a great location to relax and unwind after a long day of water activities. Enjoy grilling your catch on the charcoal grill included with your stay.

Each rental includes the use of 2 kayaks and 1 boat launch, both can be found at Mrs. Fins Oar house just down the road. Property has lots of waterfront space to park several boats at one time. There is an outdoor shower to help rinse off after a long day in the sun.

Bedroom has 2 twin size beds and living room has a pull out sofa that converts to second queen size bed. Bathroom includes a walk in shower and towels. Kitchen has that cabin feel and includes everything you need to prepare a meal.


***SCALLOPING***

Scallop season in Citrus County is July 1 through September 24. Please visit the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission website to ensure you have all current information and rules for the season. Ozello is a perfect location if you want to get to the scallop grounds quickly. You can expect a 20-30 minute drive to the scallop grounds (depending on motor size), compared to an hour drive from Crystal River and Homosassa. There are several tour guides in the area if you don't have your own boat.

***BOATING****
If you are considering bringing your boat, please note that Ozello waters are not as deep as Crystal River and Homosassa. Deep V boats are questionable during the summer months and most likely out of the question during the winter low tides. If you are concerned about your boat not being a good fit please reach out. There are also local guides available that will take you out if you do not feel comfortable navigating the waters.

***FOOD/RESTURANTS***
Grocery Stores are located about 20 minutes away and you can use Publix Instant Cart to delivery to the location. There are three restaurants on the island itself so you never have to leave. Pecks Old Port Cove is the farthest away at mile marker 9 (we are at 6). The sunsets at Pecks are the best on the island, please check their facebook page for current daily closings. The Island Outpost is a local favorite they have a small store to purchase items and gas from and have an amazing Breakfast. Within walking distance of the house is Backwater Fins. They have a full bar and typically have live music on the weekends, as well as indoor and outdoor seating.

Simple, clean and peaceful
Decided to stay here for a fishing trip and scouting possible retirement communities, the house has a history but it well suited our stay, neighbors at super helpful and friendly. Only thing I would have changed would be the two twin beds in the bedroom, the couch too uncomfortable for 2 older adults but we moved the twins together and made the most of it. Had an emergency and left the night before but wished we could have spent longer here.

My family an i have fallen in love with this place an are already planning to return during scalloping season in Aug. Our host was amazing an accommodated early an later check out cause we were enjoying ourselves so much. The house was so clean an welcoming. We were able to bring our dog which was a huge plus. There is a bait shop an a nice place to eat within walking distance. I highly recommend staying here if you like to fish an be on the water.

Father's Day week trip.
Perfect place to relax and fish if you have a flats style boat. Not fancy, but has everything you need. Weather was bad, but had plenty of adventures with my son. Grill needs to be filled, and some maintenance. Luckly brought are on tank, so no big deal. Will definitely stay here again!

Perfect Canal front fishing cabin
I rented this property for a short solo fishing trip. The house is in a perfect location if you are interested in enjoying the Homosassa/Crystal River area by boat. Great central location that puts you in the middle of all the action. The house is “rustic” and small, but everything was functional and in good condition. The dock house building is an extremely cool spot to relax and end the day. The outside shower is great after a long day on the water. There are great restaurants nearby (Fin’s 😉) and all you really need can be found on the island, assuming you don’t need much... Ozello is a small, peaceful island and has had my heart since the first visit years ago. I pray it remains frozen in time. Can’t wait to be back.

Beautiful location!
Awesome location! Great little place in Ozello. This is not the Taj Mahal, however it is a cozy little house on the canal in a gorgeous area with most every thing you need. Unfortunately we did not get to use the kayaks due to weather, but the boat shack was awesome to watch the weather and rain with a few friends. The only things really lacking were the correct sheets for the futon (which is large and according to my friend comfy, we just used the top sheet off bed) and extra towels (most women need two). If you are going to be longer then a couple of days bring extra necessities. If you are looking for a reasonable place to stay on the water to fish and kayak and don’t have a need for frills this perfect! I would stay here again! Thank you Melissa for the early check in!

The listing for this property is accurate. If you are looking for a resort or luxury accommodations don't book this property. Ozello is a peaceful and mostly quiet place. The people are all so friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Melissa was truly a good hostess. We stayed here for 3 months. The place is being renovated, but Melissa did not have the workers there during our stay. The charm and old Florida feel will make you feel at home. The neighbors, Josh & Kim, became friends. Hopefully we will see them again someday. Bonnie & Scott Smith

Great little getaway!
the property was cute and charming. So many homey touches such as a keurig coffee maker, smart tv, little dog house and blankets for the pets. Everything was included to make the stay very enjoyable. Loved the little tiki bar! Would love to stay here again!

The property was perfect for our fishing weekend. It was close to bait shops and kayak launches, and had good options for dinner nearby. And on our last morning we were treated to an unexpected visit from a dolphin in the canal behind the house. Good visit overall.

The fish house
We had an amazing time at the fish house. The place was old and rustic and had a lot of charm and quirkiness. LOL. the host was great and my husband just loved all the local advice he got from mis fins oar house and the marina and we both loved the food from black water fins restaurant. Such a laid back week I’m ready for another one.
