"Velassaru is about a 20-30 min boat ride from Mele. The boat they use is big, air conditioned and very comfortable so don't worry about being sea sick! The property is beautiful and immaculately maintained, it truly is a little piece of paradise. We stayed in the sunset side bungalows, #308 over the water, they are completely private with their own pool and a much needed breeze. We bought the full board package which included buffet breakfast, ala cart lunch and buffet dinner. All were delicious, we were very impressed. Our flight did not leave until 11pm at night so they very kindly let us stay in our room until 7pm, 12pm is their usual check out time. We arrived at 10pm unfortunately, due to the weather were unable to get to the hotel so they took us to their sister property close by. We were then taken the next day at 10:30am to Velassaru. We rode to the hotel with a group of travel agents who had been to Valassaru before, they said it was their favorite property in the Maldives.....I am beyond impressed with the property and would highly recommend it."

The fish market, in particular, offers an intriguing stingray watchout, providing a unique experience not commonly found elsewhere in the Maldives. Additionally, the hotel is within walking distance of Rasfannu beach, although it's worth noting that the beach is relatively small. There are also several good eateries nearby, such as Seagull, Lemongrass, and D'Olive, as well as the convenience of Seagull supermarket. The family room at Somerset Hotel is spacious, with the staff accommodatingly arranging the sofa bed for the kids. Late checkout was offered, which was greatly appreciated due to our late flight. While the breakfast provided is basic, it is sufficient. Overall, we were pleased with our stay at Somerset Hotel and would consider returning in the future."

"Lovely hotel with fantastic service. We were picked up from the airport and immediately the service was brilliant. The staff were incredibly friendly, accommodating and really did offer a 5* service. The room was nice, albeit a little compact. The view was great. The shower was one of the nicest showers I’ve ever seen! The design and aesthetic of the property is great. The bed is very comfortable and we had a fantastic sleep. The hotel is close to the mosque, and the call to prayer is early, but this is part of the experience and ear plugs are provided if required. We left before breakfast, so they boxed one up for us, which was very kind. Fantastic stay, amazing service, highly recommend to anyone staying in Malé"
