The Whately Hall was a nice experience and quiet and comfortable. Although, we couldn't have a la carte food this bank holiday Sunday. Luckily, we walked to the Thai Orchid and had a lovely dinner. Breakfast can improve. The staff we nice and friendly.

We had a great stay and cannot fault the fantastic staff who go above and beyond for you. Breakfast was excellent and lovely relaxing break. Didn’t eat in the restaurant but the food looked amazing with big portions. Please support the hotel as they are really trying to do their upmost best since the re-opening this year. Quirky with so much character than a budget hotel. Will be hopefully returning to try out the haunted ghost room! 👻

This used to be a lovely, special hotel to stay in, but our stay was extremely disappointing. I spoke to reception this morning about it and they very kindly agreed to make amends and reimburse me, with an understanding that they will make improvements. I suggest you dont stay in the old, but newer part of the hotel. Stay in the old original part, which apparently has been refurbished, unlike the rest of the place

Filthy carpet, window broken, stains in the bath, absolutely stank of cigarettes. The corridors stank of mold and general filth. We were so disappointed, we were given a full refund for our stay as it was so bad we had to cut our trip short. If booking this hotel please make sure you check you are in the refurbished part of this hotel as the wing we were staying in has not been refurbished or cleaned properly. Everything needs replacing. The bedding is cheap. Honestly the worst room I have ever had the misfortune to stay in.

Location is great. Room was let down by a lack of TLC & cleanliness. Rooms at the back of the main old building have obviously been added on without the original character so don't expect that charm. Breakfast was really nice & plentiful. We would stay again.

We discovered the headboard of the bed was stained from peoples’ oily hair , shower was lime scaled and the bathroom needs upgrading very antiquated . Also faeces in the toilet when we arrived . One tv was obviously broken so they left that on the wall and stood another in fromt of it . No coffee sachets for a hot drink .
